THE ROLE

Today there's no structured automation practice - that's the job. You'll architect the automation suite from scratch, own how we test for both correctness and performance, and set the standard the rest of the team works to. This is a strong-developer role and a player/coach seat: hands-on builder first, mentor and process-owner alongside. There's no legacy framework to inherit, you set it.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Build the automation suite from scratch stand up web and API test automation from zero with Playwright + TypeScript, choosing patterns that scale.
- Own functional and non-functional testing design performance and load testing with K6, treating speed, stability, and resilience as first-class.
- Design and manage test data — build the fixtures, datasets, and environments that make automated testing realistic and repeatable.
- Run tests like production software — containerise and run the suite with Docker on AWS (ECS), wired into CI/CD so feedback is fast and trusted.




- Make AI part of the workflow — use Claude and AI-assisted tooling to accelerate test design, maintenance, and failure triage.
- Lead and grow the team — mentor and upskill the existing testers on the tooling, frameworks, and AI-augmented practices you introduce.
- Own the strategy — decide what we automate, where quality gates live, and what “good” looks like, and report on it in plain language.

WHAT YOU BRING

- A strong developer first — you write production-grade code and have designed and managed multiple kinds of test automation.
- A track record of building automation frameworks from scratch, not just extending someone else's suite.
- Hands-on depth across functional and non-functional testing, including performance/load (K6 or equivalent) and solid test data management.
- Fluency in TypeScript and modern E2E automation (Playwright or equivalent), with judgment to pick the right tool per surface.
- Comfort owning test infrastructure — Docker, containerised execution, and cloud runtime (AWS ECS or similar).
- A deep interest in AI-augmented testing, and ideally some hands-on use of AI to do your engineering work better.
- Experience mentoring engineers and setting direction where none exists today.

NICE TO HAVE

- Experience as a first or founding QA/automation hire.
- Mobile automation experience (Appium / Maestro) — relevant as our surface grows.
- Testing against third-party platform APIs / integrations at scale.
- A clear point of view on where AI-assisted testing genuinely helps versus adds noise.





You'll work with Playwright • TypeScript • K6 • Docker • AWS (ECS) • Claude, against a Next.js / TypeScript codebase. You'll have a robust say in evolving this — if you'd architect it differently, we want to hear why.

LOCATION & WORK MODE

In-office at our WeWork Prestige Cube office in Koramangala, Bangalore. Relocation is welcome — but you'll need to be within a short, reasonable commute of Koramangala, or ready to move close soon. One honest constraint: we can't consider people who'd spend half their day in Bangalore traffic. We're not being precious about it — we just refuse to let traffic quietly eat your brain an hour at a time.
