Role and Responsibilities:
1. Supplier Quality Management
Evaluate and approve current suppliers. Conduct supplier audits and assessments. Monitor supplier performance using quality metrics (PPM, defect rates, delivery quality, etc.). Develop supplier improvement plans when quality issues arise.
2. Incoming Material Quality Assurance
Verify that incoming parts and materials meet specifications. Review inspection reports and quality documentation.
Coordinate with incoming quality inspection teams. Manage containment actions for non-conforming materials.
3. APQP and PPAP Activities
Participate in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities. Review and approve Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions from suppliers. Ensure suppliers comply with customer-specific requirements during product development.
4. Problem Solving and Corrective Actions
Lead investigations of supplier-related defects. Use quality tools such as:
8D Methodology, 5 Why Analysis, Fishbone (Ishikawa) Diagram, Pareto Analysis, FMEA
Verify implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions.
5. Process Audits
Conduct supplier process audits. Verify compliance with: IATF 16949 requirements ISO 9001 standards, Customer-specific requirements, Assess manufacturing controls, traceability, and process capability.
6. Quality Data Analysis
Analyze warranty, field failure, and production defect data.
Track KPIs such as: PPM (Parts Per Million defects). Supplier Scorecard Ratings,
Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)
Audit Findings, Generate quality reports and improvement recommendations.
7. Change Management
Review supplier process changes.
Approve changes in: Manufacturing processes, Raw materials, Tooling, Production locations and Ensure proper validation before implementation.
8. Customer Complaint Support
Support investigations related to supplier-caused customer complaints. Coordinate with suppliers for root cause analysis and corrective actions. Provide quality documentation to customers when required.
9. Cross-Functional Coordination
Work closely with: , Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing/Sourcing, Production, Logistics, Suppliers
