- The OT Nurse will prepare the operation theatre prior to surgeries by ensuring availability, sterility, and proper functioning of instruments, equipment, and supplies
- The role involves performing duties as a scrub nurse and/or circulating nurse as per duty roster, assisting surgeons during procedures by handling instruments, maintaining sterile fields, and anticipating surgical requirements
- The nurse will verify patient identity, consent, surgical site, and procedure, and assist in patient positioning, skin preparation, and transfer before and after surgery
- Responsibilities include strict adherence to infection control practices, OT protocols, and safety standards, including counts of instruments, sponges, and sharps before and after procedures
- The OT Nurse will monitor patients condition intraoperatively,



assist the anesthetist as required, and ensure proper documentation of surgical and nursing records
- Post-operatively, the nurse will assist in patient transfer to recovery areas, handover to PACU/ward staff, and ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and readiness of the OT for subsequent procedures
- The role also includes proper handling, labeling, and sending of specimens, maintaining OT registers, participating in audits, and coordinating with CSSD for instrument sterilization
- The OT Nurse is expected to follow hospital SOPs, NABH guidelines, and participate in training, emergency drills, and quality improvement initiatives
