Job Description: A Furnace Operator controls industrial heating equipment like gas, electric, or induction furnaces to melt, heat-treat, or process materials. They are responsible for loading raw materials, monitoring temperatures, adjusting controls for precise specifications, and ensuring strict adherence to safety and quality protocols. Core Responsibilities

- Equipment Operation: Operate and monitor industrial furnaces, regulating fuel, air flow, or electrical current to maintain required temperatures.

- Material Handling: Load and unload raw materials, flux, and metal pieces into the furnace using hoists, cranes, or forklifts.

- Quality Control: Draw molten samples for analysis, inspect materials using measuring devices, and remove impurities to meet product specifications.

- Data Logging: Record operational data such as temperature logs, processing times, and batch numbers to maintain compliance and shift records.

- Maintenance: Perform routine inspections on furnace linings, burners, and cooling systems,



and transparent blockages to minimize downtime.

Key Qualifications & Skills

- Education: High school diploma or GED is typically required; specialized trade or vocational training is preferred.

- Experience: 1–3 years of previous experience in industrial manufacturing, metallurgy, or commercial heat-treating.

- Technical Abilities: Proficiency in reading blueprints, work orders, and using measuring tools like micrometers and calipers.

- Physical Stamina: Ability to work in extreme heat, stand for extended periods, and lift heavy objects.

- Safety Focused: Strict adherence to safety protocols, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and lockout/tagout procedures.
