Job Description Educational Qualifications
n n Chartered Accountant (CA)
n n Experience
n n 12–18 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting within fertilizer manufacturing.
n Minimum 5 years in a plant finance leadership role.
n Experience in fertilizer, chemicals, petrochemicals, process manufacturing, or similar industries preferred.
n Solid exposure to cost accounting, plant operations, inventory management, and statutory compliance.
n n Key Responsibilities
n 1. Financial Accounting & Reporting
n n Maintain accurate books of accounts for the manufacturing unit.
n Ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing.
n Prepare plant-level Profit & Loss Account, Balance Sheet, and MIS reports.
n Reconcile plant accounts with corporate finance.
n Ensure adherence to accounting standards and company policies.
n n 2. Cost Accounting
n n Maintain standard costing and actual product costing for composite fertilizers.
n Analyze:
n Raw material consumption
n Utility costs
n Energy costs
n Conversion costs
n Manufacturing overheads
n Conduct variance analysis against budgets and standards.
n Determine product-wise profitability.
n Monitor production yields and process losses.
n Support pricing decisions through detailed cost analysis.
n n 3. Inventory & Stores Accounting
n n Supervise accounting of:
n Raw materials
n Packing materials
n Work-in-Process (WIP)
n Finished goods
n Consumables
n Spares
n Ensure inventory valuation complies with applicable accounting standards.
n Conduct periodic physical stock verification.
n Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
n Monitor inventory ageing and slow/non-moving inventory.
n n 4. Budgeting & Financial Planning
n n Prepare annual plant budgets.
n Develop operating expenditure (OPEX) and capital expenditure (CAPEX) budgets.
n Monitor budget utilization and analyze variances.
n Forecast monthly cash flow requirements.
n Support long-term financial planning for plant expansion and modernization.
n n 5. Manufacturing Cost Control
n n Monitor:
n Production costs
n Utility consumption
n Maintenance expenses
n Labour costs
n Procurement costs
n Identify cost-saving opportunities.
n Recommend process improvements to enhance profitability.
n Develop cost control dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs).
n n 6. Statutory Compliance
n Ensure timely compliance with:
n n GST
n Income Tax (TDS/TCS)
n Companies Act requirements
n Cost Audit
n Internal Audit
n Statutory Audit
n Environmental and other applicable regulatory reporting
n Government subsidy documentation and compliance (where applicable)
n n Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory authorities during audits and assessments.
n 7. Fixed Asset Management
n n Maintain the Fixed Asset Register.
n Capitalize project expenditures.
n Verify asset additions and disposals.
n Calculate and account for depreciation.
n Conduct periodic physical verification of fixed assets.
n n 8. Internal Controls & Risk Management
n n Strengthen financial controls across plant operations.
n Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
n Monitor delegated financial authorities.
n Identify financial risks and implement mitigation measures.
n Support internal control testing and continuous improvement initiatives.
n n 9. Working Capital Management
n n Monitor receivables and payables related to plant operations.
n Optimize inventory levels to improve working capital efficiency.
n Track vendor payments and advance settlements.
n Support treasury by providing plant-level cash flow forecasts.
n n 10. Business Partnering
n n Collaborate with:
n Plant Head
n Production
n Maintenance
n Procurement
n Supply Chain
n Quality Assurance
n Corporate Finance
n Provide financial insights to support operational decision-making.
n Evaluate capital investment proposals and prepare financial feasibility analyses.
