To effectively supervise the nursing procedures performed by nursing staff , maintaining hygiene and provide remarkable services to patients and their relatives.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Related

- Observing, recording and reporting the vital signs like blood pressure, pulse count etc of the patient




- Taking rounds and visiting patients personally daily
- Maintaining the personal hygiene of the patients including clothes, bath, hair, spunge etc
- Should be informed about patient history details for processing treatment
- Taking patient pulse count, samples, temperatures, blood pressure etc
- Supervising the provision of medications offered to patients as prescribed by doctors
- Checking of patient diet as per the diet chart and maintaining record for the same
- Carrying out transfer for patients as per the treatment need
- Maintaining an infection free environment by thorough supervision and checking the patient
- Monitoring the timely medication as per prescription to the patient by the nurse
- Supervising the procedures of intravenous injections, infusion and transfusion.
- Answering to the patient calls immediately
- Informally interacting with the patients to get their feedback
- Informing MO or doctor immediately at the time of emergency or night shift
- Attending to all medication error for timely action

- Should be aware about patient details and specifications such as patient name, treatment prescribed, ward, doctor’s name, medications in real time

Administration

- Monitoring the admission and discharge of patients

- Briefing the staff about patient treatment on shift change

- Observing the practice of basic nursing care on a daily routine by the staff
- Maintenance and checking of equipments of crush cart on a daily basis




- Preparing checklist in accordance with duties performed
- Coordinating with the auditor and MT during discharge procedure
- Checking of final documentation and sending across for MRD file process
- Administrating medical requirements of the patients

- Devising the mopping plan of floor on a daily basis
- Thorough and strict implementation of CSSD procedure like sterilization, ETO, Autoclave etc
- Checking the filing of the necessary records maintained daily
- Ordering of routine requirements on a weekly basis
- Maintaining mandatory inventory management register
- Maintaining medical record file parallelly: one for patient record and another for hospital record
- Monitoring entry of records in registers such as bed sore, mopping plan, medicine return, incidental register etc as per NABH guidelines and hospital rules.
- Mandatorily attend the trainings he/she is nominated for.
- Updating of task allocation board daily

Staff Grooming

- Imparting knowledge to nurses for maintaining and implementing proper hygiene
- Grooming the staff with up-to date training
- Should monitor cleanliness of nursing station
- Training the recent joinees and sensitizing them about the criticality of their job
- Appointing nurses for vaccination programs as per schedules from time to time

Medical Awareness

- Monitoring the disposal of biomedical waste in an appropriate manner
- Taking regular floor rounds and visiting patients
- Assisting in rounds with doctors
- Assuring infection control practices
- Calibration of biomedical equipments like infuser pump, monitor etc
- Informing the biomedical team in case of any breakdown of machine
