Job Description: A Dust Silo Operator (SID - Steel Industry Department) in a steel manufacturing plant is responsible for the safe and productive storage, transfer, and handling of bulk raw materials, such as coal, ore, or byproducts like fly ash, within silo systems. The operator ensures a continuous flow of materials to the furnaces or boilers while managing dust suppression systems to meet environmental regulations. [1, 2] Key Responsibilities and Duties

- Operations Monitoring: Start up, operate, and shut down conveyor systems, crushers, feeders, and pneumatic conveying equipment.
- Silo Management: Monitor silo levels, manage material inflow/outflow, and ensure consistent storage and discharge of raw materials.
- Dust Control: Actively monitor dust levels and operate dust suppression systems to maintain compliance with environmental regulations.
- Technical Monitoring: Monitor process parameters (pressure, flow, temperature) using PLC/DCS systems.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine inspections, including checking for silo wall deformation or structural issues. Troubleshoot blockages,



belt failures, or ash choking.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, such as wearing appropriate PPE (dust masks, respirators), especially when managing pneumatic systems. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]

Required Skills and Qualifications

- Experience: 3–7 years of experience in Coal Handling Plants (CHP), Ash Handling Plants (AHP), or similar material handling environments.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of conveyor systems, crushers, and Pneumatic Conveying.
- Skills: Experience with PLC/DCS monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Educational Background: Technical diploma or equivalent experience in a steel or power plant setting. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Physical Requirements

- Ability to work in a high-dust environment.
- Comfortable working at heights and in industrial settings
