Job Description: An Electrical Engineer - Sponge Iron Division (SID) in a steel manufacturing plant ensures uninterrupted power supply and manages electrical maintenance for kilns, cooler units, and raw material handling systems. Key responsibilities include HT/LT system maintenance, Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) troubleshooting, PLCs, and ensuring safety compliance to minimize production downtime in high-temperature environments. - Maintenance: Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance on heavy-duty electrical equipment, including transformers, motors, and switchgears.
- Operations & Troubleshooting: Monitor SID plant electrical systems, including induction motors, furnaces, and overhead cranes, ensuring optimal operation. Diagnosing faults in VFDs, AC/DC drives, and automation systems.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce strict safety procedures, such as Lockout-Tagout (LOTO), during maintenance, adhering to IS/IEC rules.
- Team Leadership: Lead a team of technicians/electricians,



assigning tasks and coordinating with mechanical and production departments for smooth operations.
- Documentation: Maintain daily logs of breakdowns, electrical consumption, and equipment history.
- Project Management: Execute upgrades for plant machinery, PLC/SCADA installations, and energy-saving improvements. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Required Qualifications & Skills

- Education: Diploma or B.E/B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: 4–10 years in electrical maintenance, particularly within a Sponge Iron (SID), DRI, or Integrated Steel Plant.
- Technical Expertise: Solid knowledge of High Tension (HT) and Low Tension (LT) systems, HT motors, VFDs, and PLC systems.
- Soft Skills: Proven ability to work under pressure, strong troubleshooting skills, and leadership ability. [1, 2, 3, 4]
