A godown incharge, also known as a warehouse manager or supervisor, is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a warehouse. Their duties include:
- Inventory: Receiving, storing, and replenishing inventory, and ensuring it's stored in the correct locations
- Shipping and receiving: Overseeing the delivery of goods into the warehouse, and ensuring they are dispatched efficiently to customers
- Quality assurance: Inspecting inbound containers for accuracy and product defects
- Safety: Implementing safety protocols, and ensuring the warehouse is clean, safe, and organized
- Staff management: Scheduling, training, and supervising warehouse staff, and ensuring they are working safely
- Maintenance:
Inspecting and maintaining equipment, tools, and machinery
- Logistics: Planning and managing the flow of goods, and communicating with drivers and air partners
- Reporting: Maintaining statistical and financial records, and keeping health and safety records
- Problem solving: Investigating accidents and troubleshooting problems
Warehouse managers and supervisors need to have strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work flexible schedule.
