Job Description: A cashier is responsible for processing customer transactions accurately and efficiently, including handling payments in cash or by card, issuing receipts, and managing returns and exchanges. A cashier also provides excellent customer service by answering questions, assisting with products, and maintaining a clean checkout area. Key duties include operating the cash register or Point-of-Sale (POS) system, balancing the cash drawer at the end of a shift, and ensuring the pricing and promotions are correct. Core responsibilities

- Transaction management: Accurately scan items, calculate total costs, collect payments (cash, credit/debit cards), and issue receipts.
- Customer service: Greet customers, answer questions about products and services, and help them locate items.
- Problem resolution: Handle customer complaints, process returns and exchanges, and redeem coupons and gift cards.





- Cash handling: Manage the cash register, including counting the cash drawer at the beginning and end of a shift to ensure accuracy.

- Workplace maintenance: Keep the checkout area clean, organized, and stocked.

Additional duties

- Restock shelves with merchandise.
- Bag or gift-wrap customer purchases.
- Cross-sell products and inform customers about new items or promotions.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure productive store operations.
- Adhere to company policies regarding security, cash handling, and the sale of age-restricted products like alcohol.
