Emergency Medicine Doctors are responsible for providing immediate medical care to patients with acute illnesses, trauma, or life-threatening conditions. They ensure rapid assessment, stabilization, and management of patients in the emergency department.
Key Responsibilities
Perform triage and initial assessment of patients
Manage medical emergencies (cardiac arrest, stroke, trauma, poisoning, etc.)
Perform life-saving procedures (intubation, CPR, central line, suturing)
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (ICU, surgery, radiology)
Ensure proper documentation and medico-legal compliance
Stabilize patients and arrange admission or referral
Supervise junior doctors, interns, and nursing staff
Handle mass casualty situations and disaster management
Maintain infection control and patient safety protocols
Required Qualifications
MBBS with MD Emergency Medicine (preferred)
OR
MBBS with MEM (Master of Emergency Medicine)
Skills & Competencies
Robust clinical decision-making skills
Ability to work under high-pressure situations
Excellent communication and teamwork
Knowledge of ACLS, BLS, ATLS protocols
Quick response and critical thinking ability
Experience
0–2 years (Junior Resident / Trainee)
