Job DescriptionJob Description NAssistant Professor: Textile Science, Surface Design & Fashion Heritage NPosition SummarynThe Assistant Professor shall be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in fashion design Nfoundations, fashion illustration, design methodology, design projects, and fashion history. The Nfaculty member will foster creativity, critical thinking, visual communication, and historical Nunderstanding while mentoring students in developing strong design concepts, artistic Nexpression, and professional competencies aligned with contemporary fashion industry practices. NCourses to be TaughtnUnder the module Textile Science, Surface Design & Fashion Heritage, the faculty shall teach: N Textile StudiesnIndian Textiles N Surface Ornamentation N Fashion History & Culture N Apparel Merchandising NQualificationsn Masters Degree in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Textile Science, Apparel Merchandising, NFashion Technology, or a closely related discipline with at least 55% marks (or equivalent Ngrade) from a recognized university. N NET/SLET/SET qualification or Ph.D. as per current UGC regulations (where applicable). N Industry or academic experience in textiles, surface design, merchandising, or fashion Nheritage is desirable. N Experience working with artisan communities, textile clusters, retail organizations, or fashion Nbrands will be an added advantage. NKey Responsibilitiesn Deliver theory and practical courses in textile science, fibre technology, fabric construction, dyeing, Nprinting, embroidery, andsurface embellishment. N Teach historical development of fashion, costume traditions, cultural influences,



and heritage Ntextiles.n Guide students in textile identification, performance evaluation, and appropriate material selection Nfor fashion products.n Conduct practical demonstrations in traditional and contemporary surface ornamentation Ntechniques.n Deliver instruction in apparel merchandising, sourcing, retail operations, product lifecycle, and Nfashion supply chain management. Integrate design thinking methodologies and emerging Ntechnologies, including AI-assisted design tools where appropriate. N Supervise textile laboratories and surface design studios. N Demonstrate techniques such as embroidery, block printing, screen printing, resist dyeing, fabric Npainting, appliqué, quilting, and mixed-media embellishment. N Maintain laboratory equipment, textile samples, dyeing tools, printing screens, and teaching Ncollections.n Ensure safe laboratory practices and proper use of materials and equipment. Mentor students in Ncreative development, portfolio preparation, and design competitions. N Conduct research in fashion design, design education, fashion history, visual culture, and Nrelated fields.n Organize workshops, seminars, exhibitions, design competitions, and guest lectures. N Engage in consultancy, team-oriented projects, and industry-academia partnerships. N Design and evaluate theory examinations, studio assignments, design projects, portfolios, and Npresentations.n Conduct continuous internal assessments in accordance with institutional policies.
