JOB DESCRIPTION I JOB DETAILS Job Title Consultant Department Ophthalmology Reporting Medical Superintendent HOD II JOB PURPOSE To ensure smooth services in the hospital and take care of In patients III KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Core Responsibilities Assessing and diagnosing patients to determine if and what kind of treatment surgery they may need Treating cataract glaucoma refractive corneal surgeries Diagnoses or treats injuries disorders and diseases of the eye and eye structures including the cornea sclera conjunctiva and eyelids Meeting with the families of patients to keep them updated on the patient s condition and surgery details Keeping records of patients their diagnosis and medical history Writing prescriptions for patients prescribes corrective lenses such as glasses and contact lenses dealing with their condition Filling out all paperwork involved in each process Motor skills are a must in order to keep hands steady during a procedure and good hand-eye coordination to avoid any slips Teamwork skills help when it comes to working with nurses technical staff other doctors and any medical students in the workplace Leadership skills to manage the team within the operating room easily Performs Lasik laser surgeries Yag Laser for posterior capsule opacification post cataract surgery Green Laser for Retinopathy Overseeing and coordinating teams of surgeons and nurses in the operating theatre Prescribes ophthalmologic treatments and therapies such as chemotherapy cryotherapy and low-vision therapy Educates patients about maintenance and promotion of healthy vision Handling unscheduled emergency surgeries Performing basic administrative and business tasks attend the outside camp writing prescriptions and filling out paperwork A thorough knowledge of human anatomy and microsurgery techniques Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams of health professionals to provide optimal patient care IV KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS Measurable Deliverables 100 compliance in the documentation part Confidently handle medical responsibilities independently without errors or complaints V JOB REQUIREMENTS SPECIFICATION Minimum Qualifications MBBS MS Ophthalmology DNB Experience 7 - 9 years post M D M S DNB Technical Skills Analytical skills Valuable knowledge of computers Behavioural Skills Good Communication skills Process-oriented Presence of mind Hardworking Team player Language Skills English Hindi VI KEY INTERACTIONS Key Internal Contacts Key External Contacts HOD Medical Superintendent Consultants Emergency Department Coordinators Patients Attendants
