Role Description This is a part-time remote role for a Video Journalist at Attlas Wire.
The Video
Journalist will research, pitch, and develop story ideas aligned with the outlet’s editorial focus on global affairs, business, technology, and culture. Day-to-day responsibilities include shooting and producing video segments, conducting interviews, writing scripts, and crafting narratives suitable for digital platforms and social media. The role involves collaborating with editors and producers to shape story angles, ensure factual accuracy, and uphold journalistic standards.
The Video
Journalist will also assist in post-production, including basic editing, sound selection,
and visual refinement to deliver clear, engaging, and shareable video content.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Video Journalism and Reporting, with the ability to identify newsworthy stories and translate complex topics into accessible video content.
- Candidates should possess skills in Video Production and Post-Production, including planning shoots, working with cameras and audio equipment, and collaborating on editing workflows.
- Candidates should possess Broadcasting and On-Camera Presentation skills, with confidence in delivering information clearly and professionally when appearing on video or voice-over.
- Candidates should possess Shooting Video and Visual Storytelling skills, demonstrating an eye for composition, lighting, and framing that supports narrative impact.
- Candidates should possess Writing and Script Development skills, including the ability to craft concise, accurate, and engaging scripts for news, features, and interviews.
- Additional beneficial qualifications include familiarity with digital media platforms, basic video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar), and an understanding of audience engagement metrics.
- Strong ethical judgment, commitment to independent journalism, and the ability to work autonomously in a remote setting are essential.
- A relevant degree or equivalent experience in journalism, communications, film, or a related field is preferred.
