Role Summary

We are engaging a Twilio Segment Consultant on a six-month contract to own the design, implementation, and hardening of our Customer Data Platform. You will be the senior technical authority on Segment across the engagement — defining the tracking plan, implementing collection across web, mobile, and server, wiring downstream activation, and leaving behind a governed, documented, maintainable platform rather than a pile of undocumented events.

This is a hands-on role. You will write code, configure the workspace, and debug production data flows. It is not a purely advisory position.

Required Experience

Non-negotiable:





3+ years hands-on with Twilio Segment in a delivery or consulting capacity — not just "have used a CDP"

Demonstrable ownership of at least two end-to-end Segment implementations, from tracking plan design through production activation

Deep fluency with the Segment spec and event taxonomy design; you have opinions about naming conventions and can defend them

Protocols / tracking plan governance — you have run a workspace where violations were monitored and acted on, not ignored

Identity resolution — you can explain merge rules, identity collisions, and what happens when the rules are wrong, from experience rather than documentation

Solid JavaScript / TypeScript for Analytics.js, Segment Functions, and debugging

Server-side SDK experience in at least one of Node, Python, Java, Go, or Ruby

SQL and warehouse fluency — you can validate that what landed matches what was sent

Experience with consent and privacy requirements (GDPR / CCPA) as they apply to data collection and downstream activation

Strongly preferred

Mobile SDK implementation (Analytics-Swift, Analytics-Kotlin, or React Native)

Twilio Engage — audiences, journeys, activation

Reverse ETL and warehouse-first architectures; familiarity with Data Graph / Linked Audiences

Segment Public API for programmatic workspace management and CI-based tracking plan deployment

Experience with Replay and the operational judgment for when it's appropriate

Migration experience from mParticle, Tealium, Adobe, or Rudderstack

Cost optimisation — you have reduced an MTU or event bill and can describe how

Prior consulting or contract delivery experience with client-facing stakeholder management
