This is an Engineering leadership role, responsible for system-level architecture and quality. The resource will own architectural decisions for their systems, solve ambiguous technical problems, and set the quality, testing, and security bar for the team. Key Responsibilities
Own system architecture and architectural decisions for the platform components they lead
Solve ambiguous technical problems, even when the underlying business problem is still being defined
Drive testing strategy and the overall quality bar across a team
Apply a deep understanding of architectures and scalability tradeoffs to guide system design
Ensure security is baked into architecture and code review standards, not bolted on afterward
Set code review standards and expectations for the team
Lead incident response, drive Corrections of Error (COEs), and design for failure (circuit breakers, graceful degradation, failure isolation)
Design production-grade GenAI systems, including evaluation frameworks, guardrails, and cost/latency tradeoffs
Communicate technical tradeoffs clearly to non-technical stakeholders and mentor engineers across the team
Balance technical debt against delivery speed, backed by transparent business reasoning Qualifications
Strong software engineering experience, including system-level design ownership
Demonstrated experience architecting and scaling platform services, APIs, or infrastructure
Strong track record of leading incident response and driving root-cause analysis (COEs)
Experience setting testing, security, and code review standards for a team
Experience designing or productionizing GenAI/LLM-based systems, including evaluation and safety guardrails
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical tradeoffs for non-technical stakeholders
Demonstrated mentorship of other engineers About the Platform Team The Engineering Experts on the AI Maestro platform team build shared services, APIs, and infrastructure that other teams use to build customer-facing products. Because the platform layer is a critical dependency, a defect or design flaw here propagates into every product built on top of it. This is why the team holds itself to a high-quality bar — and why that bar starts with the people it hires.
Foundational Competencies The job descriptions below describe how these competencies scale in scope and ownership at each level.
Code Quality & Design — clean, readable, maintainable, secure, well-tested code; strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, and OOP principles
Problem Solving & Fundamentals — strong debugging skills and the ability to break ambiguous problems into solvable pieces
Testing & Quality Assurance — writing and maintaining automated tests, and understanding test-driven development
System & Architecture Awareness — familiarity with design patterns, architecture patterns, databases, cloud fundamentals, caching, and scalability tradeoffs
Operational Excellence — observability, alerting/dashboards, deployment strategies, and safe-release practices (rollback, feature flags)
Generative AI Application Skills — understanding of LLM fundamentals, prompting techniques, RAG, and agentic/tool-use workflows
Soft Skills — clear communication, strong documentation habits, effort estimation, continuous learning, and cross-functional collaboration Genpact is an Equal Opportunity Employer and considers applicants for all positions without regard to race, color, religion or belief, sex, age, national origin, citizenship status, marital status, military/veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical or mental disability or any other characteristic protected by applicable laws.
