Solution Architect – On-Premises Data Center Infrastructure

Position Overview

We are looking for a technically strong Solution Architect – Data Center Infrastructure with extensive experience designing and solutioning On-Premises Data Centers / On-Prem Data Center environments.

What This Role

Is NOT

This role is not suitable for:

Pure public-cloud architects

AWS-only architects

Azure-only architects

GCP-only architects

Candidates without physical/on-premises data-center experience

Candidates without VMware/virtualization experience

High-level architects without infrastructure-level technical depth

Candidates experienced only in one isolated technology

Candidates whose background is primarily cloud and lacks substantial physical data-center exposure ? MOST IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT

On-Premises Data Center / On-Prem Data Center experience is MANDATORY.

For this role, On-Premises / On-Prem Data Center means the physical data-center facility and infrastructure where servers, storage, networking, virtualization, backup, and related equipment are deployed and operated on-site.

This is not a primarily public-cloud architecture role.

Candidates whose experience is mainly in AWS, Azure, or GCP, without robust hands-on physical/on-premises data-center infrastructure experience, will not be considered a strong fit. ? TOP MUST-HAVE SKILLS

Candidates must have strong experience in the following areas:

On-Premises / Physical Data Center Infrastructure – MANDATORY

Data Center Architecture & Solution Design

Deep VMware / Server Virtualization Experience – MANDATORY

Windows Server

Linux

End-to-End Data Center Infrastructure

Compute / Physical Servers

Enterprise Storage

Enterprise Backup

Data Center Networking

Firewalls & Network Security

RFP-Based Solution Architecture / Technical Solutioning

Technical Bidding / Proposal Development

OEM / Technology Vendor Coordination

Infrastructure Integration

Professional Services / Implementation Experience

Managed Services / Day-2 Infrastructure Understanding

Government / Critical Infrastructure Data Center Experience – Highly Preferred Role Overview The Solution Architect will be responsible for understanding complex infrastructure requirements and converting them into complete, practical, scalable, secure, and implementable data-center solutions.

The role requires both

Architectural Breadth + Technical Depth + Hands-on Infrastructure Understanding The candidate should be capable of looking at the entire physical and virtual data-center ecosystem and designing an integrated solution across:

Compute → Virtualization → Operating Systems → Storage → Backup → Network → Firewall → Integration → Operations Key Responsibilities

- On-Premises Data Center Architecture

Design and architect physical/on-premises data-center infrastructure.

Understand physical server, storage, networking, virtualization, backup, and security requirements.

Perform infrastructure sizing and capacity planning.

Design high-availability and redundant infrastructure.

Ensure interoperability between different infrastructure components.

Develop secure, scalable, supportable, and operationally viable architectures.

Understand how proposed infrastructure will actually be deployed and operated within a physical data-center environment.

- Server & Compute Infrastructure

Strong understanding of

Physical servers

Server architecture

CPU and memory sizing

Compute capacity planning

High availability

Server consolidation

Infrastructure sizing

RFP & Technical Solutioning A major part of this role involves RFP analysis and technical solutioning.

Responsibilities include

Study and interpret RFPs and technical specifications.

Understand customer requirements and compliance criteria.

Convert requirements into technical architectures.

Design complete end-to-end infrastructure solutions.

Identify appropriate technologies and infrastructure components.

Develop technical solution approaches.

Identify technical gaps, dependencies, and risks.

Prepare technical responses and proposals.

Validate proposed configurations.

Ensure technical compliance with RFP requirements.

Participate in technical discussions and clarifications.

Ensure proposed solutions are practical and technically executable.

OEM / Technology Vendor Coordination The candidate should have experience working directly with OEMs, technology vendors, and infrastructure partners.

Responsibilities may include

Obtaining technical configurations and specifications from OEMs.

Evaluating OEM recommendations.

Validating hardware and software configurations.
