About CleverBooks
CleverBooks helps e-commerce and D2C brands keep their money and their books correct. We sit on top of messy data - Shopify, marketplaces, couriers, payment gateways, GST, Tally/Zoho - and reconcile what should have happened against what actually happened: payments, settlements, shipments, inventory-to-accounting. When a number is wrong, a brand either loses money silently or trusts a figure they shouldn't. Our job is to make it right.
We're a small, fast-moving team. You'll work on real problems that reach real customers within days, not a sandbox.
What you'll actually do
- Read existing code you didn't write, understand it, and change it without breaking what works.
- Trace a wrong number through the data to its root cause, and fix the logic behind it.
- Build and debug reconciliation and data-integrity features across the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express, React, Node).
- Handle the messy edge cases that decide whether the books are right — missing data, duplicates, mismatched sources, partial returns.
- Verify your own work so numbers tie out, and explain clearly what you changed and why.
What we're looking for
- Comfortable with JavaScript/MERN (or able to get there fast — you know one stack well).
- Can pick up an unfamiliar codebase and modify it safely, not just write greenfield code.
- Debugging instinct: you enjoy figuring out why something is wrong, not just patching it.
- Care about correctness and edge cases — you check before you claim it works.
- Communicate clearly in writing.
- A sense for the user and the product is a solid plus.
You do not need finance, GST, or accounting background — we'll teach the domain. You do not need competitive-programming skills.

- ₹10,000/month stipend for a 6-month internship.
- A pre-placement offer (PPO) for a full-time SDE role at the end, based on your performance over the 6 months.
