SHIFT PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR – MATCH WORKS MANUFACTURING
1. JOB PURPOSE The Shift Production Supervisor is responsible for the overall production and operational activities of the assigned shift, ensuring optimum manpower utilization, production target achievement, product quality, machine availability, workplace safety, and smooth coordination between all operational functions.
The position will act as the overall Shift In-charge, responsible for managing manpower and coordinating production activities from the beginning to the completion of the shift.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Shift Production & Operations
- Take complete responsibility as Shift In-charge for all production and operational activities.
- Plan, monitor and control production activities according to the daily production plan.
- Ensure achievement of shift-wise production targets within the planned time.
- Monitor the complete production process from raw material feeding to finished match production and packing.
- Ensure continuous and smooth production operations without unnecessary downtime.
- Identify production bottlenecks and take immediate corrective action.
- Coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, Stores, Packing and other departments for uninterrupted operations.
- Ensure proper shift handover and takeover between outgoing and incoming supervisors.
B. Manpower Management
- Plan and deploy manpower according to production requirements.
- Supervise and control all shift manpower, including operators, workers, helpers and contract labour.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower in all production areas.
- Monitor employee attendance, absenteeism, late coming and shift allocation.
- Reallocate manpower based on production priorities and operational requirements.
- Maintain discipline, work efficiency and productivity within the shift.
- Identify manpower shortages and immediately communicate requirements to the concerned department.
- Train and guide workers regarding work methods, safety procedures and productivity standards.
C. Production Process Control
- Monitor production activities at every stage of the manufacturing process.
- Ensure machines and production lines are operated according to approved operating procedures.
- Monitor production quantity, productivity and process efficiency.
- Reduce rejection, wastage, rework and production losses.
- Monitor consumption of raw materials and other production inputs.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of match-related materials.
- Immediately report abnormal production conditions, machine breakdowns or process deviations.
D. Quality Control
- Ensure production is carried out according to defined quality standards and specifications.
- Coordinate with the Quality Department to maintain product quality.
- Monitor defects, rejection and rework during the shift.
- Take immediate corrective action for recurring quality problems.
- Ensure proper segregation and identification of rejected/non-conforming materials.
- Maintain quality-related production records and shift reports.
E. Machine & Maintenance Coordination
- Monitor the operational condition of all production machinery and equipment.
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Team during machine breakdowns.
- Minimize machine downtime and production interruptions.
- Ensure preventive maintenance activities are supported by the production team.
- Report recurring machine problems to the Production/Maintenance Manager.
- Ensure machines are operated only by trained and authorized employees.
F. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure strict compliance with factory safety rules and statutory requirements.
- Conduct regular checks of PPE usage and secure working practices.
- Ensure workers follow prescribed safety procedures while operating machinery.
- Immediately report accidents, near misses, unsafe conditions and hazardous activities.
- Ensure emergency procedures are understood and followed by shift employees.
- Maintain good housekeeping and 5S practices within the production area.
- Ensure proper handling of match-related combustible materials and adherence to fire-safety procedures.
G. Shift Administration & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain Shift Production Reports.
- Record production quantity, rejection, wastage, downtime and manpower deployment.
- Monitor shift-wise production performance against targets.
- Prepare daily shift handover reports.
- Report major operational issues to the Production Manager / Factory Manager.
- Maintain production registers, checklists and other required operational records.
- Communicate important issues clearly to the next shift supervisor.
3. OVERALL SHIFT IN-CHARGE RESPONSIBILITY The Shift Production Supervisor will have overall responsibility for the following during the assigned shift:
Manpower → Production → Machine Operations → Quality → Safety → Material Availability → Productivity → Housekeeping → Shift Discipline → Reporting → Handover The supervisor must ensure that all shift operations are completed safely, efficiently and according to the planned production target.
4. SHIFT-WISE RESPONSIBILITIES
Before Shift
- Review previous shift production and pending issues.
- Check manpower availability and deployment.
- Verify raw material and packing material availability.
- Check machine readiness and production line status.
- Review production targets and priorities.
During Shift
- Continuously monitor production performance.
- Supervise manpower and machine operations.
- Monitor quality, wastage and rejection.
- Resolve operational problems immediately.
- Coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, Stores and other departments.
- Ensure safety and discipline throughout the shift.
End of Shift
- Verify actual production against target.
- Record rejection, wastage and downtime.
- Complete shift production documentation.
- Report pending issues and machine conditions.
- Conduct proper handover to the next shift.
- Ensure production area and machines are left in safe operating condition.

Pay: ₹17,000.00 - ₹28,000.00 per month
