We work with customers across 28 countries from 10 VOIS locations: Albania, Egypt, Hungary, India, Romania, Spain, Turkey, UK, Germany, Ireland, and with a network of teams in Czech Republic, Italy, Greece, and Portugal. #VOIS #BeUnrivalled #CreateTheFutureAbout this Role We are seeking an experienced Principal IP Network Engineer to provide expert-level Level 3 operational support, incident management, and advanced troubleshooting across complex service provider IP/MPLS, transport, and optical networks. This role is focused on leading the resolution of critical customer-impacting incidents, driving service restoration, and acting as the highest operational escalation point before vendor engagement.

The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise across multi-vendor service provider platforms with strong stakeholder management, customer engagement, and operational leadership capabilities. They will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Vendors, and Customers to ensure network stability, service reliability, and continuous operational improvement.

What you’ll do Incident Management & Service Restoration Lead the technical resolution of major incidents and critical core network outages.

Own incidents end-to-end until full service restoration is achieved.

Perform advanced troubleshooting across IP/MPLS, transport, and optical network environments.

Provide Level 3 escalation support to NOC, Service Operations, Engineering teams, and customers.

Lead technical bridge calls during high-priority incidents and provide clear stakeholder updates.

Ensure adherence to incident management, escalation, and communication processes.

Conduct post-incident reviews, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective action planning.

Identify recurring network issues and drive long-term problem resolution initiatives. Customer & Stakeholder Management Act as a senior technical contact for customer escalations.

Participate in customer reviews, incident discussions, and service improvement initiatives.

Communicate technical issues, risk assessments, and mitigation plans to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Build customer confidence through proactive communication, accountability, and service ownership.

QoS and traffic management

IPv4 and IPv6

API-based network automation

Virtualised networking platforms Virtualised Network Support Troubleshoot Nokia VSRa (22.10R1) environments.

Support VSRa platform architecture and virtual routing infrastructure.

Investigate control plane and forwarding plane issues.

Perform performance, scalability, and capacity analysis.

Supported Technology Platforms Nokia: 7750 SR-12e, 7210, VSRa (22.10R1)

Huawei: NE8000-M8, CX600-X2-M8A, CX600-X8A

Cisco: NCS560-7, ASR9910 Operational Excellence Ensure compliance with ITIL Incident, Problem, Change, and Major Incident Management processes.

Drive service improvement initiatives that enhance network reliability and operational efficiency.

Develop and maintain troubleshooting guides, knowledge articles, and operational procedures.

Mentor Level 1 and Level 2 engineers and act as a technical subject matter expert.

Collaborate with Engineering and Architecture teams during service introductions and network transformation programmes.

Support software upgrades, vulnerability remediation, and technology lifecycle management activities. On-Call & Service Support Participate in out-of-hours support and on-call rotations for critical network services.

Support emergency escalations outside standard working hours when required.

Provide technical leadership during planned maintenance activities and critical service events.

Coordinate with vendors and global cross-functional teams to achieve productive service restoration. Who you are

Experience 8-12+ years of experience within Telecommunications, Internet Service Provider, or Service Provider environments.

Strong background in Network Operations, Service Assurance, and Incident Management.

Proven experience managing customer-facing technical escalations.

Extensive experience troubleshooting large-scale, multi-vendor IP/MPLS networks.
