Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator with strong DevOps capabilities to support an enterprise cloud migration programme involving VMware workloads moving to Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) on AWS and Amazon EC2. The role covers Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB across self-managed and AWS-native platforms. You will manage database assessment, migration, administration, automation, high availability, performance, cutover, and post-migration support within a structured Migration Factory model.
Key Responsibilities
Assess database dependencies, performance, licensing, backup, recovery, and high availability or disaster recovery configurations.
Define migration approaches for Nutanix NC2, Amazon EC2, Amazon RDS, and Amazon Aurora.
Execute migrations using native replication, backup and restore, AWS DMS, and AWS SCT.
Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and administer Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
Configure Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, SQL Server Always On, and database replica or cluster solutions.
Build CI/CD pipelines for database schema, configuration, and deployment changes.
Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Ansible.
Automate backups, patching, health checks, monitoring, and failover testing using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
Configure AWS networking, security groups, IAM, KMS encryption, storage, backup, and retention.
Plan and execute database cutovers, validation, rollback, UAT support, and production hypercare.
Troubleshoot database, replication, connectivity, performance, migration, and automation issues.
Maintain runbooks, migration plans, operating procedures, dashboards, and status reports.
Collaborate with cloud architects, migration engineers, application owners, and infrastructure teams.
Mandatory Skills Required
Strong enterprise Database Administration experience across Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
Hands-on database migration experience from on-premises or VMware environments to AWS.
Experience with Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, Amazon EC2, AWS DMS, AWS SCT, AWS Backup, IAM, and AWS KMS.
Strong knowledge of database migration, replication, backup and recovery, patching, upgrades, and rollback.
Experience with Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, SQL Server Always On, and database clustering or replication.
CI/CD experience using Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or equivalent tools.
Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform and Ansible.
Automation and scripting skills using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
Experience in database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, capacity planning, and troubleshooting.
Experience managing database cutovers, post-migration validation, hypercare, and technical documentation.
Nice to Have Skills
Experience with Nutanix Cloud Clusters on AWS.
Experience supporting Oracle or SQL Server on Nutanix NC2.
Exposure to large-scale VMware-to-Nutanix or VMware-to-AWS migrations.
Experience working within an enterprise Migration Factory model.
Knowledge of Oracle and SQL Server licensing considerations.
Familiarity with migration governance, architecture reviews, UAT, and operational readiness.
