About Tolle Labs Tolle Labs is building machines that think, move and operate in the real world.
We are an Indian deep-tech company working at the intersection of Physical AI, autonomous robotics, UAVs, UGVs, embedded systems and intelligent machines. Our mission is to build advanced autonomous systems from the ground up — combining hardware, electronics, AI and robotics into products engineered for real-world deployment.
You'll build machines, break them, improve them, test them in the real world — and watch something you engineered come alive.
We're building a team of engineers and builders who want to create world-class Physical AI technology from India, for the world.
If you want to build the future instead of just talking about it - come build it with us at Tolle.
Robotics Engineer (ROS 2 & Physical AI) Position: Robotics Engineer – ROS 2 / Autonomous Systems
Experience: 2–3 Years
Employment: Full-Time
Location: Bengaluru
Domain: Robotics | Physical AI | Autonomous Systems | Embedded Systems
About the Role We are looking for a hands-on Robotics Engineer with solid ROS 2 experience to work on the development of intelligent physical systems, autonomous robots, unmanned platforms, and next-generation Physical AI applications.
The ideal candidate should have 2–3 years of professional experience working in a robotics, autonomous systems, industrial automation, UAV, UGV, automotive, or other physical-hardware organisation.
This is not a purely software role. The engineer will be expected to work directly with physical hardware, sensors, actuators, embedded computers, robotic platforms, and real-world testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain robotic applications using ROS 2.
- Build ROS 2 nodes, topics, services, actions, packages and launch systems.
- Integrate sensors including LiDAR, cameras, depth cameras, IMUs, GPS/GNSS,
encoders and proximity sensors.
- Integrate motors, motor controllers, actuators and other robotic hardware.
- Develop autonomous navigation and robotic behaviour using Nav2 and related ROS 2 frameworks.
- Work on SLAM, localization, mapping, path planning and obstacle avoidance.
- Integrate perception and computer-vision algorithms into robotic systems.
- Develop communication between embedded systems, onboard computers and robotic controllers.
- Work with protocols such as CAN, UART, SPI, I2C and Ethernet.
- Perform system-level debugging across software, electronics and mechanical subsystems.
- Conduct field testing, collect data, identify failures and improve system reliability.
- Develop simulations using Gazebo / Isaac Sim or similar robotic simulation environments.
- Work closely with mechanical, electronics, embedded, AI and product engineering teams.
- Participate in rapid prototyping and take robotic systems from prototype to deployable hardware.
Required Skills Essential
- 2–3 years of professional robotics/physical-hardware experience.
- Strong practical knowledge of ROS 2.
- Strong programming skills in C and/or Python.
- Linux/Ubuntu development experience.
- Experience integrating real-world sensors and actuators.
- Understanding of robotic coordinate frames, transformations and TF/TF2.
- Experience with Git and software version control.
- Strong debugging and system-integration skills.
- Comfortable working directly on physical robotic platforms.
Preferred
- ROS 2 Nav2
- SLAM / Visual SLAM
- LiDAR-based localization
- Sensor fusion
- OpenCV
- NVIDIA Jetson platforms
- NVIDIA Isaac ROS / Isaac Sim
- Gazebo
- RealSense / depth cameras
- Point-cloud processing
- Edge AI inference
- CAN communication
- Microcontrollers and embedded systems
- Docker
- MAVLink / PX4 / ArduPilot
- Autonomous UAV or UGV development
Preferred Industry Background Candidates who have previously worked with companies building:
Robotics • Autonomous Vehicles • UAVs/Drones • UGVs • AMRs • Industrial Automation • Warehouse Robotics • Automotive Robotics • Defence Robotics • Humanoid Robotics • Physical AI Systems will be strongly preferred.
What We Are Looking For We particularly value engineers who are builders.
You should be comfortable moving between a laptop, electronics bench and an actual robot—writing ROS 2 code, connecting sensors, debugging communication issues, tuning navigation, analysing logs and testing the system in real-world environments.
The ability to take a robotic subsystem from “it works in simulation” to “it works reliably on hardware” is especially important.
Qualification Bachelor's or Master's degree in:
- Robotics
- Mechatronics
- Electronics/ECE
- Electrical Engineering
- Computer Science
- Mechanical Engineering
- Instrumentation
- or a related engineering discipline.
Exceptional candidates with strong hands-on robotics experience will also be considered.
Experience Minimum: 2 years
Preferred: 3 years of hands-on experience with ROS/ROS 2 and physical robotic systems.
Strong Differentiator Candidates who can demonstrate a working robot, ROS 2 project, autonomous navigation stack, GitHub repository, deployed robotic product, or other physical system they personally helped build will receive preference.
