Job Title: Regional HR & Legal Manager – Mumbai

About the Company
We are one of India's leading premium women's ethnic wear retail brands with a strong presence across multiple states. As part of our growth strategy, we are seeking an experienced and dynamic Regional HR & Legal Manager to establish and strengthen our Human Resources and employment legal operations across the Mumbai region.
This role is critical in building a strong local recruitment network, ensuring timely hiring of quality talent, maintaining HR compliance, and acting as the Corporate HR & Legal representative for all Mumbai operations.
Position Summary The Regional HR & Legal Manager will be responsible for leading end-to-end recruitment, strengthening HR governance, ensuring employment law compliance, managing employee relations, and coordinating employment-related legal matters for the Mumbai region.
The incumbent will work independently while maintaining close coordination with the Corporate HR & Legal Department at the Delhi Head Office.
Key Responsibilities
A. Talent Acquisition & Recruitment
- Lead end-to-end recruitment for all showroom and corporate positions within the Mumbai region.
- Build and maintain a strong local talent pipeline through networking, headhunting, referrals, consultants, job portals, institutes, and social media.
- Develop relationships with recruitment consultants, placement agencies, and educational institutions.
- Recruit for positions including:
- Store Manager
- Assistant Store Manager
- Sales Executive
- Cashier
- Stock Executive
- Visual Merchandiser
- Area/Cluster Management positions
- Corporate Office positions
- Conduct interviews, candidate assessments, salary negotiations, and hiring recommendations.
- Ensure quality hiring within defined turnaround timelines.
- Monitor offer acceptance, joining ratio, and new hire retention.
- Maintain recruitment MIS,
dashboards, and manpower reports.
B. HR Operations
- Ensure smooth onboarding and induction of new employees.
- Verify employee documentation and maintain statutory compliance records.
- Ensure accurate employee files and HR documentation.
- Coordinate employee confirmations, transfers, promotions, and separations.
- Conduct exit interviews and support Full & Final Settlement documentation.
- Ensure implementation of company HR policies and SOPs.
C. Employee Relations
- Handle employee grievances professionally.
- Counsel employees and managers on HR policies.
- Support conflict resolution and disciplinary processes.
- Conduct investigations into employee misconduct and prepare investigation reports.
- Issue and maintain records of warning letters, show cause notices, charge sheets, suspension letters, transfer letters, and other employment documentation.
D. Employment Legal & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws and employment regulations.
- Coordinate employment-related legal matters with Corporate HR & Legal.
- Liaise with labour authorities, police authorities, government departments, and external advocates whenever required.
- Maintain legal documentation related to employee disputes and disciplinary proceedings.
- Assist in labour inspections and statutory audits.
- Maintain records relating to employment litigation and compliance.
- Support preparation of replies to legal notices under the guidance of Corporate HR & Legal.
- Ensure confidentiality of all legal and employee records.
E. Showroom HR Governance
- Conduct periodic and surprise HR audits across all assigned showrooms.
- Verify employee attendance, manpower deployment, and statutory records.
- Review compliance with HR policies, employee documentation, and workplace discipline.
- Submit audit reports with corrective action plans.
- Monitor implementation of Head Office directives across all showrooms.
F. Business Partnership
- Act as the Corporate HR & Legal representative for the Mumbai region.
- Partner with business leaders to understand manpower requirements.
- Provide HR guidance to showroom management.
- Support business expansion through timely recruitment and manpower planning.
- Build a positive employer brand in the local market.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education
Mandatory
- MBA in Human Resources (Full-Time)
Preferred
- LLB
- Diploma/Certification in Labour Laws, Industrial Relations, or HR Compliance
Experience
- 6-10 years of overall HR experience.
- Minimum 5 years in Talent Acquisition.
- Minimum 5 years in Retail HR.
- Experience in fashion retail, apparel, women's ethnic wear, lifestyle, jewellery, or premium retail brands will be preferred.
- Experience handling employment law, labour compliance, and disciplinary matters.
- Solid network within the Mumbai retail hiring market.
Pay: ₹15,644.32 - ₹54,661.39 per month
