Role Description The Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and usability of Roster’s AI-powered hiring platform. This contract, remote role involves designing and executing test plans, developing automated test scripts, and performing manual and exploratory testing across web and backend services.

The engineer will collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and data scientists to understand requirements, refine acceptance criteria, and validate new features before release. Day-to-day activities include identifying and documenting defects, analyzing root causes, maintaining test environments,



and contributing to continuous improvement of QA processes and standards. The role also includes monitoring production issues, supporting release cycles, and helping to enhance overall product quality and user experience.

Qualifications

- Strong QA fundamentals, including experience with manual testing, test case design, regression testing, and defect tracking.
- Proficiency in test automation using tools or frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar, plus scripting skills in languages like JavaScript, Python, or Java.
- Hands-on experience testing web applications, APIs, and integrations, including use of tools like Postman or similar for API validation.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control tools (e.g., Git), and the ability to integrate tests into automated build and deployment workflows.
- Experience working with data-driven or AI-powered products, with an understanding of edge cases, performance, and reliability considerations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and clear, structured documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage priorities, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional, distributed teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; prior experience as a QA Engineer or Software Tester in a SaaS or platform environment is highly beneficial.
