Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer to drive the automated testing initiative for our suite of Appian applications. The ideal candidate brings hands-on expertise with FitNesse (specifically the FitNesse for Appian / Automated Testing Framework) and a deep understanding of enterprise QA practices.

In this role, you will collaborate with our Appian development team, architect, and product owners to architect, build, and maintain automated test suites. Your primary objective will be to establish robust regression testing, accelerate release cycles, and integrate automated test execution into our delivery pipelines.

Key Responsibilities:

- Automation Suite Development: Design, build, and maintain modular, reusable automated test scripts using FitNesse targeting Appian interfaces, process models, record types, and web APIs.
- Test Strategy Coverage: Partner with product owners and Appian developers to define test automation coverage priorities, focusing on high-risk workflows, core business logic, and end-to-end user journeys.
- CI/CD Integration: Integrate FitNesse test execution into continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines for automated smoke and regression checks.
- Defect Management: Analyze test execution results, identify root causes for failures (differentiating between application bugs and test script maintenance issues), and track defects in Jira.
- Framework Maintenance:



Update and optimize custom FitNesse fixtures and underlying scripts to ensure resilience against Appian platform updates and UI modifications.
- Documentation Knowledge Transfer: Document test plans, automation design standards, and execution workflows to enable internal team members to maintain and expand the test suite long-term.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Developing Automation Frameworks: Demonstrated hands-on experience setting up, writing, and executing automated test suites. Experience with FitNesse specifically for Appian applications is a plus.
- Appian Platform Understanding: Practical knowledge of Appian platform concepts, including Process Models, Interfaces, Records, Sites, Expression Rules, and Web APIs.
- Underlying Automation Technologies: Solid understanding of Selenium WebDriver, Java, or custom FitNesse fixture development.
- CI/CD Version Control: Experience using Git and integrating automated test runs into automated CI/CD build pipelines.
- Core QA Practices: Proven track record in test design, edge-case identification, test data management, and defect tracking.
- Communication: Strong technical writing and communication skills to collaborate effectively across remote development teams.
