Job Purpose To supervise and control day-to-day Core Shop production activities, ensuring timely production of quality cores as per production plans, drawings, specifications, and customer requirements while maintaining safety, productivity, and housekeeping standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and supervise daily Core Shop production according to the production schedule.
- Allocate manpower and machines effectively to achieve daily production targets.
- Monitor core-making processes, including core box preparation, sand preparation, core shooting/blowing, curing, finishing, inspection, and storage.
- Ensure cores are produced according to approved drawings, process sheets, and quality standards.
- Monitor core sand parameters such as resin, catalyst/hardener, moisture, temperature, and sand quality as applicable to the process.
- Ensure proper setting and operation of core-making machines and related equipment.
- Coordinate with Pattern Shop, Foundry, Quality, Maintenance, Stores, and Planning departments for smooth production.
- Identify and reduce core defects such as cracks, blow holes, dimensional errors, broken cores, gas defects, and improper curing.
- Maintain production records, rejection reports, downtime reports, and shift-wise production data.
- Analyze production losses and take corrective actions to improve productivity and reduce rejection.
- Ensure proper handling, identification, and storage of finished cores to prevent damage and mix-ups.
- Train and guide operators and helpers on process requirements, machine operation, quality, and safety.
- Ensure compliance with company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and 5S/housekeeping standards.
- Monitor machine condition and coordinate with the Maintenance Department for breakdowns and preventive maintenance.
- Implement continuous improvement activities to improve productivity, quality, cost, and delivery (QCD).




- Conduct shift handovers and communicate production status, problems, and pending activities to the next shift.
- Ensure minimum wastage of raw materials and proper control of consumables.
- Support internal and customer audits related to Core Shop operations.

Required Qualifications

- Diploma / ITI / B.E. in Mechanical, Production, Foundry, or related engineering field.
- Experience in foundry/casting Core Shop operations is preferred.
- Knowledge of core-making processes and foundry practices.
- Knowledge of production planning, manpower handling, quality control, and safety.
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel and production reporting.
- Good communication, leadership, problem-solving, and team-management skills.

Experience 1–2 years of relevant experience in a foundry/casting industry, preferably in Core Shop production.

Preferred Technical Knowledge

- Cold Box / Hot Box / Shell Core / CO₂ or other core-making processes, depending on plant technology.
- Core sand mixing and chemical control.
- Core machine operation and troubleshooting.
- Core inspection and defect analysis.
- Foundry safety and 5S.
- Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing / Kaizen / continuous improvement.
