Job Summary The Production Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising the complete jewellery manufacturing process to ensure timely production, quality control, cost efficiency and maximum productivity. The role involves managing production teams, monitoring workflows, ensuring adherence to quality standards, minimizing wastage, and maintaining production schedules while complying with company policies and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities Production Planning & Control Plan daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on sales orders and delivery commitments. Allocate work efficiently across departments including Casting, CAD/CAM, Wax, Filing, Assembly, Stone Setting, Polishing, Rhodium, QC and Packing. Monitor production progress and ensure on-time completion of orders. Coordinate with merchandising, sales, design and purchase teams for smooth production flow. Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions. Team Management Lead and supervise - craftsmen, karigars and production team. Assign work based on skills and production priorities. Conduct daily production meetings and monitor workforce productivity. Train and mentor employees on quality standards and production techniques. Ensure discipline, attendance and compliance with company policies.
Quality
Management Ensure jewellery meets company quality standards before dispatch. Coordinate with the Quality Control team to minimize rejections and repairs. Implement quality improvement initiatives. Monitor defect rates and establish preventive measures. Inventory & Material Control Monitor gold, silver, diamonds, gemstones, findings and consumables during production. Minimize metal loss and material wastage.
Coordinate with stores and inventory teams for material availability. Ensure proper documentation and reconciliation of issued materials. Cost & Productivity Management Improve production efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs. Monitor labour productivity and machine utilization. Analyze production reports and identify opportunities for process improvement. Control overtime and production expenses.
Process
Improvement Develop and implement SOPs for manufacturing processes. Introduce lean manufacturing practices wherever possible. Optimize workflow and improve production capacity. Participate in automation and technology implementation projects. Coordination Coordination with: o Design Department o CAD Department o Purchase Team o Merchandising Team o Inventory & Stores o Sales Team o Quality Assurance o Dispatch Team Compliance & Safety Ensure adherence to manufacturing SOPs. Maintain workplace safety and housekeeping standards. Ensure compliance with company policies and statutory regulations. Maintain confidentiality regarding jewellery designs and production processes.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Production or a related field. Jewellery manufacturing certification is an added advantage.
Experience 8–10 years of prior experience in jewellery manufacturing & Production of Kundan, Meena, Jadau & Polki. Minimum 3–5 years in a Production Manager or similar leadership role. Experience in Gold, Diamond, Kundan, Polki, Jadau or Precious Jewellery manufacturing is preferred.
