Hipcouch is scaling its internal design capabilities by creating proprietary material lines (custom veneers, tiles, textiles, and surface finishes) and standardised design templates. The Product Designer will partner directly with the Studio Head to translate creative concepts into production-ready material collections and modular templates that streamline how in-studio interior designers build solutions for end-clients.

: Product Designer – Materials & Design Systems

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Product Designer (6–8 Years) based in Mumbai to work directly alongside our Studio Head and Senior Designers. In this role, you will bridge material innovation and interior application by conceptualizing proprietary surface lines—such as custom tiles, veneers, fabrics, and wall treatments—and converting them into scalable, standardized design templates for our interior design studios.

Key Responsibilities

- Material Line Development: Co-design exclusive collections of veneers, tiles, fabrics, and surface finishes from concept to physical prototype under the direction of the Studio Head.
- Design Template Systems: Create modular design templates, material palettes, and standardized assemblies for in-house studio interior designers to easily configure for end-customers.
- Prototyping & Vendor Management: Partner with material manufacturers, craftsmen, and vendors to refine manufacturing viability, review samples,



and ensure high-quality material execution.
- System Documentation: Build detailed specification sheets, swatch kits, application guidelines, and digital material libraries for internal studio deployment.
- Trend & Material Research: Research tactile trends, material tech, and spatial aesthetics to ensure Hipcouch's proprietary lines remain distinct and forward-thinking.

Required Experience & Skills

- Experience: 6–8 years of hands-on experience in Product Design, Industrial Design, Surface/Textile Design, or Material Systems.
- Design Pedigree: Educational background in Product/Industrial/Surface Design from NID (National Institute of Design), NIFT, MIT Institute of Design, or equivalent premier institutes preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Expertise in CAD/3D modeling tools (Rhino, SolidWorks, KeyShot, 3ds Max) and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Material Expertise: In-depth knowledge of physical materials, manufacturing constraints, surface texturing, print techniques, and finishing processes.
- Systemic Mindset: Robust ability to build modular, repeatable design frameworks out of bespoke aesthetic concepts.
