- Knowledge Development: Assist in drafting and refining concept notes, briefs, reports, position papers, and other knowledge resources to inform policy development and advocacy efforts. Support the creation of practical recommendations for gender-responsive policies at local, national, and international levels. Ability to synthesize evidence and research studies for policy uptake.
- Policy Research & Analysis: Conduct in-depth research on the evolving policy landscape pertaining to IWWAGE strategy which includes gender equality and women’s economic empowerment. Analyze policy documents, government reports, and international frameworks to identify gaps and opportunities for policy advocacy.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Support engagement with key stakeholders, including government officials, civil society organizations, donors, and feminist networks/groups. Assist in managing consultants, government relationships, internal and external stakeholder management.
- Policy Engagement and Coordination: Provide logistical support for events, conferences, and meetings related to policy initiatives and advocacy efforts. Assist with organizing and attending relevant forums, workshops, and policy dialogues.
Requirements
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Gender/Development Studies, International Relations, Social Work, Public Policy, Economics, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred. Educational background should not limit interested candidates with the relevant work experience from applying.
- Experience
- At least 2-5 years of experience in policy analysis, research, or advocacy, preferably with a focus on gender equality, women’s rights, or women’s economic empowerment.
- Familiarity with working on policies and government initiatives on gender equality and women’s economic empowerment is highly desirable.
- Skills
- Strong research, analytical, and writing skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and produce clear outputs of varying formats.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present ideas effectively to diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with gender-sensitive policy frameworks and an understanding of how gender intersects with economic policies and social justice.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to visualize technical concepts and transform text into process workflows, charts, infographics etc. is desirable. (You do not need to have design skills)
- Experience with data analysis software or statistical tools is a plus.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
