​Role Overview

Seeking a qualified Plumbing and Fire Fighting Design Engineer to handle the end-to-end design, hydraulic calculations, equipment sizing, and coordination of Public Health Engineering (PHE) and Fire Protection systems for high-rise building projects. The candidate must possess deep computational skills, hands-on experience with vertical pressure zoning and pumping systems, and strong familiarity with applicable building codes.

​Key Responsibilities

​Hydraulic Calculations & Engineering Sizing

​Calculate domestic water demand, flushing water requirements, and total storage capacities (underground/overhead tanks).

​Design water distribution systems, including booster pump head/flow sizing, pipe friction loss, hydro-pneumatic system sizing, and pressure-reducing valve (PRV) station zoning for high-rise structures.

​Perform soil, waste, and vent pipe sizing, drainage stack capacities, condensate drainage, and rainwater/stormwater runoff calculations (gravity and syphonic).

​Conduct fire protection hydraulic calculations: sprinkler density, standpipe/hydrant flow rates, friction loss, and fire pump sizing (electric, diesel standby, jockey).

​Design sewage treatment plant (STP) capacities, greywater recycling networks, and rainwater harvesting systems.





​Design Execution & Drafting Coordination

​Prepare comprehensive Design Basis Reports (DBR), schematic riser diagrams, equipment layouts, and plant room drawings (pump rooms, STP, water treatment plants).

​Prepare detailed Bill of Quantities (BOQ), material specifications, equipment schedules, and technical tender documents.

​Coordinate service routes across structural, architectural, HVAC, and electrical disciplines to resolve spatial clashes in multi-story risers, basements, and ceiling voids.

​Codes & Regulatory Compliance

​Ensure strict adherence to National Building Code (NBC), local municipal authority bylaws, and international standards such as NFPA (10, 13, 14, 20, 24), UPC, and IPC.

​Prepare submission drawings and documentation required for Fire Department NOCs and environmental clearance boards.

​Required Qualifications & Technical Skills

​Education: Bachelor’s Degree (B.E./B.Tech) or Diploma in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.

​Experience: 2 to 8 years in MEP design consultancy or design-build firms, with a proven track record of high-rise projects (over 45 meters / 15+ stories).

​Software Tools: AutoCAD (Mandatory), Revit MEP / BIM workplace (Highly Desirable), Hydraulic Sizing Software (EPANET, HASS, Elite Fire, Pipe-Flo, or advanced Excel calculation models).

​Core Competencies: Advanced knowledge of high-rise pressure distribution, backflow prevention, deluge/pre-action systems, fire pump head calculations, and sustainable water management systems.
