ABOUT US: Join a team that is redefining the accessibility of space. Azista space is a transformative force in the global aerospace sector, uniquely positioned at the intersection of indigenous innovation and industrial scalability.
Operating
India’s first private-sector satellite mass-production facility in Ahmedabad, we have bridged the gap between complex engineering and high-volume manufacturing. As a vertically integrated leader, we provide end-to-end solutions from the precision design of satellite buses and advanced payloads to mission management and communication systems. We don’t just build hardware, we are democratizing the final frontier by providing global clientele with the cost-effective, high-performance technology needed to power the next generation of orbital missions.
At Azista, you won't just be starting a job, you’ll be fuelling the future of space exploration.
JOB SUMMARY: Azista Space is seeking an ambitious and technically grounded Optical Engineer to join our team in Ahmedabad. In this role, you will play a key part in the complete lifecycle of space-based optical payloads—from initial design, straylight, and optical simulations to hands-on assembly, integration, and testing (AIT). Operating at the intersection of precision engineering and industrial scale, you will help bridge complex payload architecture with reliable flight hardware.
As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will own the technical fidelity of optical designs, stray light mitigation, and metrology workflows. You will collaborate directly with cross-functional system, mechanical, and aerospace engineers to verify optical performance under harsh space environments. This role offers a unique opportunity to build flight-proven hardware that powers critical global orbital missions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Optical Design & Simulation: Perform end-to-end optical design, sequential/non-sequential ray tracing, and stray light or thermal background analysis using industry-standard tools (Zemax, CODE V, TracePro).
Payload Subsystem AIT: Assist in the assembly, alignment, integration, and testing (AIT) of space-grade optical payloads and opto-mechanical components in cleanroom environments.
Optical Metrology & Verification: Utilize precision measurement equipment (interferometers, autocollimators, spectrometers) to execute optical performance verification and calibration.
Vendor & Technical Procurement: Draft technical specifications, identify suppliers, and evaluate vendors for specialized optical elements, raw materials, and fabrication services.
Documentation & Qualification: Maintain rigorous integration records, stray light reports, test observations, and compliance tracking aligned with spaceflight qualification standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with thermal, structural, and payload systems teams to ensure seamless hardware interface integration across satellite buses. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR ?
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Applied Optics, Physics, Photonics, or a related discipline.
Experience: 0–3 years of hands-on experience in optical system integration, alignment, laboratory optical projects, or related academic/internship exposure.
Optical Software:
Working familiarity with optical design and ray-tracing tools (e.g., Zemax, CODE V, LightTools, TracePro, or MATLAB).
Core Fundamentals: Solid grasp of geometric optics, imaging systems, optical alignment techniques, and experimental laboratory measurement.
Soft Skills: High adaptability, strong analytical problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset for multidisciplinary team settings. NICE-TO-HAVE : Advanced Simulation: In-depth knowledge of Stray Light Analysis, Ghosting, and Narcissus analysis for space environment conditions.
Space Standards: Exposure to space qualification standards and environmental testing practices (ECSS, NASA, ISRO, or equivalent).
Cleanroom Protocols: Practical experience with cleanroom operations, contamination control, and handling delicate optical components.
Hardware Instrumentation: Familiarity with high-precision optical test setups, interferometry, and laser alignment workflows. WHY JOIN US?
