Services (Pune) is establishing a state-of-the-art Global Capability Center (GCC) in Pune, powering the strategic expansion of Mizuho Americas Services’ IT operations. At the heart of this initiative is the creation of a next-generation Technology Operations Center (TOC), modeled on a “mission control” concept delivering real-time visibility, proactive incident management, and intelligent automation across critical infrastructure and applications. The Pune GCC will not only drive operational excellence but also act as a hub for innovation, transformation, and continuous improvement in Mizuho’s technology landscape.

You will be joining one of the most advanced technology command center teams, helping to build and execute critical 24 x 7 operations for a major Investment Bank.

About The Role The SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) mission specialist role at Mizuho involves supporting the core SQL Server database platforms within our Technology Operations Center. You will be responsible for providing Level 1 support for service alerts and incidents, ensuring rapid response and resolution to maintain optimal database performance and availability. This role requires working in a rotating shift pattern, covering 24/7 operations, including early, late, and overnight shifts, to support our global banking operations.

As a key member of the team, you will demonstrate operational discipline, problem-solving skills, and technical expertise in SQL Server administration. You will work closely with US Infrastructure senior teams, follow established runbooks,



and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Your role will also involve mentoring colleagues, documenting incidents accurately, and suggesting operational enhancements to improve SLA adherence, incident resolution times, and overall service health.

Qualifications The ideal candidate must have a strong background in supporting SQL Server environments, with a minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience for an Analyst level, 4 years for an Associate, and 7 years for an Assistant Vice President. You should possess a professional certification in SQL Server or a related area, with familiarity across on-premises, virtualized, and cloud-based SQL Server deployments, including Azure SQL and SQL Server on IaaS platforms. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are essential for incident reporting, shift handovers, and collaborative problem-solving.

Reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to follow complex runbooks with precision are critical. Candidates should also demonstrate a proactive attitude towards learning and sharing knowledge within a team environment.

Preferred qualifications include experience in a regulated banking environment, familiarity with ITIL processes, and knowledge of tools like ServiceNow, OpsRamp, and SenturyOne. Additional experience with high-availability solutions such as Always On, clustering, or replication is advantageous. Educationally, a Bachelor of Engineering or a degree in Computer Science is required, along with foundational SQL Server certifications preferred.

Responsibilities Provide Level 1 support for SQL Server service alerts and incidents, ensuring quick resolution and minimal downtime.

Monitor, triage, and troubleshoot SQL Server alerts, job statuses, backup results, replication,



and performance metrics.

Execute approved support and recovery procedures, adhering to established runbooks and policies.

Document incident details thoroughly, including root cause analysis, and ensure accurate handovers during shift changes.

Participate in a rotating shift schedule, covering 24/7 operations, including early, late, and overnight shifts.

Collaborate with US infrastructure teams to review and update operational procedures and incident management strategies.

Mentor junior team members, sharing knowledge and best practices to foster a culture of continuous learning.

Identify opportunities for operational improvements, including SLA adherence, incident reduction, and MTTR.

Conduct deeper analysis of recurring issues, performance bottlenecks, and database health trends to prevent future incidents.

Maintain a high level of operational discipline, professionalism, and focus on delivering quality service.

Support the implementation of high-availability solutions, such as clustering and replication, to ensure database resilience.
