CAD Engineer I Water Robotics Inc. · Hyderabad · Full-time, in office What we build
Physical intelligence in everyday objects —High-DOF mechanisms packed into consumer envelopes, moving quietly, for years, under load.
Nobody has built these before, so most of the work happens on the bench. Small hands-on R&D; team, short loops: model it early in the week, parts on the table by Friday, a rig to find out what we got wrong.
The role
You own CAD for subsystems from first sketch to released drawings — then you're on the floor with the machinists, the harness and the rig, watching your parts go together.
Requirements
BE/BTech Mechanical. 1–3 years on hardware that got built; a strong portfolio can replace the years.
SolidWorks. CSWA or equivalent hands-on CAD depth; CSWP preferred.
Parametric modelling. Global variables, equations, configurations, named and foldered trees. A dimension change should propagate, not detonate the model.
Top-down and bottom-up. Skeleton geometry where several people share an interface, bottom-up where parts stand alone or come from a vendor.
Fully defined. Sketches, parts, assemblies. No dangling geometry, no floating components.
Efficient mating. The minimum sufficient set — no redundant mates, no over-defined assemblies.
Manufacturing drawings.
Set by process and by purpose: internal reference, RFQ, machining, sheet metal, moulding,
purchased-part control, inspection.
Tolerancing. From process capability and function. First-angle, GD&T;, surface finish, thread and weld callouts, BOM, balloons, revision tables.
Process knowledge. 3-axis milling, turning, sheet metal, laser, plus one of moulding, casting or production-intent printing.
Rigs, jigs and fixtures. Load frames, life-cycle rigs, assembly and alignment fixtures, gauges — designed and built fast, because the answer is usually needed that week.
Electrical integration.
Harnesses in SolidWorks Routing: bend radii, service loops, strain relief, connector orientation, lengths that survive a moving structure, and flat drawings for the harness vendor.
Release discipline. PDM revisions, part numbers, ECRs, and a BOM that matches the CAD.
Preferred
CSWP specialty (Sheet Metal, Weldments, Mold Tools, Surfacing) · robotics, automotive, aerospace or medical devices ·
You'll like it here if
You'd rather be in the shop than in a review. You want to see your part move. You're happy starting before the spec is fully written.
How we hire A 30-minute conversation with the team skip — how you'd fit the team and which gaps you'd fill. Clear that and you get a technical CAD design round, built around that conversation, your profile and what we currently need.
