Role Overview
This role drives Linux DevOps and platform engineering within a DBO operations framework, focusing on automation-first operations, platform reliability, and uptime maintenance. It centers on RHEL environments, Ansible/AAP automation, and lifecycle management via Red Hat Satellite, with foundational OpenShift/Kubernetes knowledge to support containerized workloads and modern platform practices.
Roles and Responsibility:
- Administer and maintain RHEL systems (provisioning, patching, upgrades, decommissioning) in enterprise environments
- Perform L2/L3 troubleshooting and execute deep root cause analysis (RCA) for incidents
- Enforce system security (hardening, patch compliance, vulnerability remediation)
- Execute day-to-day operations, service requests, and application-related OS support
- Develop, maintain, and optimize Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) playbooks, roles, and workflows to automate provisioning and operational tasks at scale.
- Monitor system health, logs, and performance, and implement automation for optimization
- Handson RHEL administration with Ansible/AAP and Red Hat Satellite.
- Drive automation-first approach to reduce manual operational effort
- Collaborate with application, database, and infrastructure teams for deployments and issue resolution
- Support server and OS requirements for application onboarding and projects
- Excellent troubleshooting skills, and a passion for problem solving and investigation
- Handle incident response, escalation, and recovery activities in production environments
- Hands-on experience in VMware administration, including virtual machine deployment, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Contribute to capacity planning, performance tuning, and disaster recovery readiness
- Support infrastructure improvements, standardization, and risk reduction initiatives
- Experience administering core Linux services, including TCP/IP, DNS, PKI/certificate management, and services such as Apache/Nginx, NFS, and SSH.
- Provide basic operational support for OpenShift platforms (pods, logs, basic troubleshooting)
- Continuously improve operational processes, runbooks, and platform efficiency
Required Skills
- Hands-on experience with Red Hat Satellite and Ansible / Ansible Automation Platform (AAP).
- InfrastructureasCode automation using Ansible, with Gitbased version control (GitLab) and IaC methodologies.
- Proven L2/L3 production support experience with solid understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Change, and Problem Management), including root cause analysis, proactive problem management, and trend analysis.
- Development: Utilize Ansible playbooks to automate routine tasks, application deployments, and system configurations.
- Experience with Kubernetes based container platforms (OpenShift exposure is a plus).
