Role Description The Incharge Operation Theatre role is a full-time, on-site position based at Motherhood Hospital in Kolkata. The role is responsible for overseeing daily operation theatre activities, including scheduling surgeries, coordinating with surgeons, anesthetists, nursing staff, and support teams, and ensuring adherence to clinical and safety protocols.

Theatre monitors the readiness of OT equipment and supplies, supervises infection control practices, and ensures proper documentation and compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards. This position also involves managing OT staff allocation,
guiding team performance, and addressing operational issues to maintain efficient workflow and high-quality patient care. The role requires close collaboration with nursing administration and hospital management to optimize OT utilization and continuously improve processes.
Qualifications Candidates should possess strong supervisory skills to lead and mentor operation theatre nursing and support staff.
Candidates should possess operations and operations management skills to oversee OT workflows, scheduling, resource utilization, and adherence to protocols.
Candidates should possess analytical skills to review OT performance data, identify process gaps, and implement improvements.
Candidates should possess effective communication skills to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, counsel patients’ families as needed, and report to hospital leadership.
Registered Nurse or equivalent clinical qualification with specialized training in OT nursing or perioperative care; advanced certification in OT management is an advantage.
Relevant experience in an operation theatre leadership or charge nurse role, preferably in a multispecialty or maternity and pediatric hospital.
Thorough knowledge of infection control, surgical safety checklists, emergency protocols, and OT equipment handling.
Ability to work in a fast-paced workplace, make timely decisions, and maintain a patient-first, ethical approach to care.
