About HealOn

HealOn is committed to empowering experienced nurses to achieve their global career aspirations by preparing them for international placement in leading hospitals across the UK and US. We bridge the gap between clinical excellence and the communication standards required by global healthcare systems, helping skilled nurses gain the confidence and certification they need to succeed abroad. Role Overview

We are looking for a compassionate and skilled IELTS / OET Trainer to lead English language and communication training for experienced nurses preparing for international careers. This role goes beyond exam coaching — the ideal candidate understands that many of our nurses, despite strong clinical skills, may have below-average English communication ability and a Mother Tongue Influence (MTI) affecting pronunciation and fluency. The trainer's mission is to build these nurses up with patience and empathy, helping them meet the communication standards expected by top hospitals in the UK and US.

We are looking to fill 2 vacancies, 1 as a Full Time and 1 Freelancer, specify your preference during your application. Key Responsibilities

Design and deliver structured IELTS and OET training programs (all four modules: Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking) tailored specifically for nursing professionals.

Assess each nurse's current English proficiency and MTI patterns, and create individualized improvement plans.

Conduct focused sessions on neutralizing MTI, improving pronunciation, fluency, grammar, and vocabulary relevant to clinical and patient-communication contexts.

Train nurses on OET's healthcare-specific tasks (e.g., case notes, referral letters, patient interactions) alongside general IELTS preparation.

Conduct mock tests, speaking practice,

and one-on-one feedback sessions to track and accelerate progress.

Create a safe, encouraging, and judgment-free learning environment, given that many learners may feel self-conscious about their communication skills.

Motivate and mentor nurses throughout their preparation journey, helping build confidence alongside competence.

Track learner progress, maintain training records, and report outcomes to the training/program management team.

Continuously update training content and methodology based on the latest IELTS/OET exam patterns and UK/US hospital communication expectations.

Collaborate with clinical trainers and program coordinators to align language training with overall candidate readiness for global placement.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's or Master's degree in English, Linguistics, Education, TESOL/TEFL, or a related field.

Certified IELTS and/or OET trainer (certification from British Council, IDP, Cambridge Assessment English, or OET Centre preferred).

Minimum 2–4 years of experience training IELTS/OET candidates, ideally with healthcare professionals (nurses in particular).

Strong understanding of MTI patterns common among nurses from South Asian, or other relevant regional backgrounds, and proven ability to address them effectively.

Familiarity with UK (NMC) and/or US (NCLEX/visa screening) communication requirements for internationally trained nurses is a strong plus.

Key Skills & Attributes

Empathy & Patience — genuine care for learners who may struggle with confidence or communication; ability to encourage without judgment.

Excellent Spoken & Written English — near-native fluency and clarity to model correct communication.

Strong Classroom & Coaching Skills — ability to simplify complex language concepts for adult learners with varied proficiency levels.

Cultural Sensitivity — awareness of the linguistic and cultural backgrounds of nursing professionals.

Result-Oriented Mindset — focus on measurable score improvement and readiness for global hospital standards.

Adaptability — ability to customize teaching methods for individual and group learning needs.

Strong Interpersonal Skills — ability to build trust and rapport with experienced professionals who are new to structured learning environments.
