Job Purpose To supervise and ensure effective housekeeping, cleanliness, hygiene, maintenance and overall upkeep of the University campus, buildings, classrooms, laboratories, offices, hostels and common areas. The position will be responsible for manpower supervision, daily inspections, complaint resolution, maintenance coordination and ensuring a clean, safe and well-maintained campus environment.
Key Responsibilities 1.
Housekeeping Operations
Supervise day-to-day housekeeping activities across the assigned University campus. Ensure cleanliness of classrooms, offices, laboratories, corridors, washrooms, staircases, common areas and outdoor areas. Prepare and implement daily housekeeping duty rosters and staff deployment plans. Monitor housekeeping staff attendance, punctuality, discipline and performance. Conduct regular inspections to ensure prescribed cleanliness and hygiene standards. Ensure adequate availability and proper use of cleaning materials, equipment and consumables. Ensure timely cleaning of washrooms, drinking-water areas and high-traffic zones. Coordinate special cleaning activities before and after University events and programs. 2.
Maintenance Coordination
Supervise routine maintenance of University buildings and infrastructure. Coordinate complaints related to electrical, plumbing, civil, carpentry, furniture, AC, lighting and other maintenance requirements. Conduct regular inspection rounds to identify maintenance requirements proactively. Ensure timely rectification of maintenance complaints. Maintain a proper record of maintenance complaints and their status. Coordinate with technicians, contractors and external service providers whenever required. Immediately report major defects, safety hazards or infrastructure-related issues to the concerned authority. 3.
Manpower Supervision
Supervise housekeeping, maintenance helpers, technicians and other support staff assigned to the department. Prepare duty rosters and ensure proper manpower deployment. Monitor attendance and daily work performance. Ensure staff follow prescribed dress code, discipline and workplace safety practices. Identify manpower shortages and coordinate with the concerned agency/department for replacement or additional manpower.
Provide on-the-job instructions and guidance to housekeeping and maintenance personnel. 4.
Campus
Inspection &
• Monitoring Conduct daily inspection rounds of the campus. Check cleanliness, hygiene, lighting, furniture, washrooms, water supply, electrical fixtures and general infrastructure. Identify deficiencies and initiate corrective action. Maintain daily inspection/checklist records. Ensure that pending complaints are followed up until closure.
- Student &
- Employee Complaints Receive and coordinate resolution of routine housekeeping and maintenance complaints raised by students, faculty and staff. Prioritize urgent complaints affecting academic activities, safety or essential services. Coordinate with the concerned department/team for timely resolution. Maintain records of complaints and action taken.
- Safety &
- Hygiene Ensure compliance with University safety, hygiene and sanitation standards. Ensure proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment. Report unsafe conditions, damaged infrastructure or potential hazards immediately. Ensure housekeeping staff use appropriate safety equipment wherever required. Support emergency maintenance and cleanliness requirements during incidents or special situations.
- Vendor &
- Contractor Management Coordinate with outsourced housekeeping and maintenance agencies. Monitor manpower deployment and quality of services provided by vendors. Check compliance with agreed service standards and University requirements. Report manpower shortages, poor performance or service deficiencies to the competent authority. Coordinate with contractors for repair and maintenance work.
- Inventory &
- Material Management Monitor consumption and availability of housekeeping materials, cleaning chemicals, tools and maintenance consumables.
Maintain proper records of materials issued and consumed. Raise requirements for replenishment before stock exhaustion. Ensure economical and appropriate utilization of materials and resources. Prevent unnecessary wastage, misuse or unauthorized use of materials.
- Events &
- Special Requirements Coordinate housekeeping and maintenance arrangements for seminars, conferences, meetings, convocations, examinations and other University events. Ensure venues are cleaned, prepared and maintained before and after events. Arrange additional manpower and resources whenever required.
- Reporting &
- Documentation Prepare daily/weekly/monthly housekeeping and maintenance reports. Maintain records of complaints, inspections, manpower deployment and maintenance activities. Submit pending issue reports to the Senior Administrative Officer/Administrative Head. Maintain checklists and documentation as prescribed by the University.
Key Skills &
Competencies Robust supervisory and manpower-management skills. Knowledge of housekeeping and facility management operations. Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, civil and general building maintenance.
Good communication and coordination skills. Ability to handle students, faculty, staff, vendors and contractors professionally. Strong follow-up and problem-solving ability. Ability to conduct inspections and identify deficiencies.
Basic knowledge of MS Office/Excel for reporting. Ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously. Strong discipline, ownership and attention to cleanliness and safety.
Educational Qualification Minimum: Graduate in any discipline.
Preferred: Diploma/Degree in Facility Management, Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Engineering or a related field.
Experience 3–5 years of relevant experience in housekeeping, facility management, maintenance or administration.
Experience in a school, college, university, hospital, hotel, corporate campus or large institution will be preferred.
Experience in managing outsourced housekeeping and maintenance manpower will be an added advantage.
Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
