Position: Housekeeping Supervisor

Reports To: Executive Housekeeper / Housekeeping Manager

Location: Hotel

Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily operations of the Housekeeping Department, ensuring that guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, and other assigned areas are maintained to the hotel's required standards of cleanliness, hygiene, presentation, and safety.

The position requires strong supervision, discipline, attention to detail, grooming, and the ability to ensure that all housekeeping staff perform their duties efficiently and professionally.

Key Responsibilities1. Daily Housekeeping Operations

- Supervise the daily work of Room Attendants, Public Area Attendants, and other housekeeping staff.
- Allocate rooms and duties to staff according to occupancy and operational requirements.
- Ensure all guest rooms are cleaned, inspected, and released within the required time.
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, corridors, public areas, washrooms, and back-of-house areas.
- Ensure all housekeeping areas meet hotel cleanliness and presentation standards.
- Coordinate room status with the Front Office and update room readiness promptly.

2. Guest Rooms & Public Areas
- Inspect vacant, occupied, checkout, and VIP rooms as per hotel standards.
- Ensure proper cleaning, bed-making, bathroom sanitation, dusting, vacuuming, and replenishment of amenities.
- Monitor cleanliness of lobbies, corridors, staircases, lifts, public washrooms, banquet areas, and other common areas.
- Immediately report maintenance defects, damages, lost items, or unusual observations to the concerned department.

3. Staff Supervision & Discipline
- Ensure all housekeeping employees report for duty on time and in proper uniform.
- Maintain high standards of personal grooming and hygiene among housekeeping staff.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, productivity, and work performance.
- Conduct daily briefings and communicate operational instructions clearly.
- Take corrective action for negligence, absenteeism, poor grooming, misconduct, or failure to follow SOPs and report serious matters to the Housekeeping Manager/HR.
- Ensure staff follow the hotel's rules, regulations,



SOPs, and departmental procedures.

4. Linen & Housekeeping Inventory
- Monitor linen movement, usage, and availability.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and counting of clean and soiled linen.
- Monitor housekeeping supplies, chemicals, guest amenities, cleaning materials, and equipment.
- Report shortages, damages, or excessive consumption to the Housekeeping Manager.
- Ensure proper storage and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.

5. Lost & Found
- Follow the hotel's Lost & Found procedure strictly.
- Immediately report and properly record any item found in guest rooms or public areas.
- Ensure found items are secured and handed over to the designated authority as per hotel policy.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity while handling guest belongings.

6. Guest Service
- Respond promptly and professionally to housekeeping-related guest requests and complaints.
- Coordinate with Front Office and other departments to resolve guest issues.
- Ensure special guest requirements, VIP arrangements, and urgent requests are completed on time.
- Maintain a courteous and professional attitude at all times.

7. Safety, Hygiene & Security
- Ensure compliance with hotel safety, fire, hygiene, and security procedures.
- Report unsafe conditions, suspicious activities, damages, or security concerns immediately.
- Ensure housekeeping equipment is operated safely.
- Ensure chemicals are properly labelled, stored, and used according to instructions.
- Follow procedures for handling accidents, emergencies, and guest property.

8. Coordination with Other Departments
- Coordinate closely with Front Office regarding room status, early arrivals, VIP rooms, room changes, and priority rooms.
- Coordinate with Engineering/Maintenance regarding room defects and maintenance requirements.
- Coordinate with Security regarding lost and found, suspicious activities, and safety concerns.




- Coordinate with F&B; and Banquets for cleaning requirements of restaurant and banquet areas.

Daily Responsibilities
- Attend departmental briefing.
- Check staff attendance and grooming.
- Allocate daily duties and room assignments.
- Monitor room cleaning progress.
- Inspect cleaned rooms before releasing them.
- Check public areas and washrooms.
- Follow up on maintenance complaints.
- Monitor linen and housekeeping supplies.
- Handle guest requests and complaints.
- Submit required reports to the Housekeeping Manager.
- Ensure all pending tasks are completed before the end of the shift.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in hotel housekeeping, preferably in a supervisory role.
- Hotel experience in a similar position is preferred.
- Good knowledge of housekeeping procedures and hotel cleaning standards.
- Strong leadership and team-management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Good knowledge of guest room and public-area cleaning procedures.
- Basic computer knowledge is preferred.
- Knowledge of hotel PMS/housekeeping systems will be an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and cleanliness standards.

- Proper documentation and reporting.
- Effective coordination with other departments.

Pay: ₹22,000.43 - ₹27,000.71 per month
