Company Description Speak Your Mind (SYM) is an education and skills organization that helps students build confidence, communication, and real-world life skills through experiential learning and AI-powered platforms such as MyDebate.ai. SYM has worked with more than 27,000 students across schools and colleges, including Oakridge International, APL Global School, and Christ University. The organization conducts Model United Nations (MUNs), debates, mock parliaments, workshops, and AI-integrated speaking programs.
These initiatives are designed to be engaging, practical, and aligned with UNSDG Goal 4, promoting quality education and equal access to learning opportunities.
Role Description The Head of Secretariat – Students Only role is an on-site position based in Chennai, focused on supporting and managing student-led events and secretarial functions. In this role, the individual will coordinate MUNs, debates, mock parliaments, and other academic activities, ensuring schedules, documentation, and communication are accurate and timely. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing agendas and minutes, managing correspondence, maintaining records, and supporting compliance with internal policies and governance frameworks.
The Head of Secretariat will collaborate closely with student committees, faculty coordinators,
and SYM staff to ensure smooth operations and high-quality experiences for participants. This role also involves guiding student secretariat teams, troubleshooting logistical issues, and contributing to the continuous improvement of event processes and systems.
Qualifications
Strong clerical skills, including accurate documentation, record-keeping, and handling official correspondence.
Experience or interest in company secretarial work and corporate governance, with an understanding of policies, procedures, and compliance.
Well-developed analytical skills and organization skills to plan events, prioritize tasks, and solve operational challenges.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, educators, and multiple stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple activities on-site, adapt to agile event environments, and maintain attention to detail.
Prior experience in student leadership, event management, or academic clubs (MUNs, debates, or similar) is an advantage.
Comfort with basic digital tools and platforms used for event coordination and communication.
Currently enrolled student or recent graduate, with a strong interest in education, leadership, or governance-related fields.
