About the Role

Silver Consumer Electricals Limited is looking for an experienced Head – Design & Development to lead our Design & R&D; function for Pumps, Motors, Agri Equipment and Electrical Products.

The role will be responsible for driving product innovation, New Product Development (NPD), product performance, hydraulic and mechanical design, cost optimization, design standardization and successful commercialization of new products.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in leading Design/R&D; teams within a manufacturing workplace, preferably from Pumps, Motors, Agri Equipment, Consumer Electricals or related Engineering industries.

Key Responsibilities

Design & R&D; Leadership

- Lead the overall Design & R&D; function and develop the product technology roadmap.
- Lead and mentor the Design, R&D; and Product Development team.
- Establish design standards, engineering processes and best practices.
- Drive product innovation and continuous improvement across existing and new product ranges.

New Product Development
- Lead complete NPD from concept, feasibility and prototype development to testing, validation and commercialization.
- Translate market and customer requirements into product specifications.
- Coordinate with R&D;, Production, Quality, Purchase, PPC, Sales and Service teams.
- Ensure timely completion of product development projects.

Pump & Hydraulic Design
- Lead hydraulic design and development of pumps.
- Review and optimize Head, Flow, Efficiency, NPSH and Pump Performance Curves.
- Drive hydraulic efficiency, product reliability and performance improvement.
- Ensure designs meet required application and product standards.

Mechanical & Motor Design
- Lead mechanical design of pumps, motors and related components.
- Review 3D models, assemblies, manufacturing drawings and GD&T.;
- Ensure design feasibility considering casting, machining, fabrication and assembly processes.
- Drive design standardization, component commonization and platform development.

Cost Optimization & Product Improvement




- Drive VA/VE, material optimization, weight reduction and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Optimize BOM, materials and components without compromising product quality or performance.
- Identify opportunities for design simplification and manufacturing cost reduction.

Testing & Validation
- Define product testing and validation requirements.
- Lead prototype testing, performance testing and reliability validation.
- Analyze test results and drive design improvements.
- Support technical investigation and resolution of field/customer product issues.

Design for Manufacturing
- Ensure designs are manufacturable, reliable and cost-effective.
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Tool Room and Purchase teams.
- Resolve design-related production and quality issues.
- Ensure smooth transition from prototype to mass production.

Engineering Documentation
- Ensure accuracy and control of BOMs, drawings, specifications and engineering documents.
- Manage Engineering Change Notes / Engineering Change Management.
- Maintain design standards, technical databases and revision controls.

Candidate Profile

- 15–20 years of experience in Design, R&D; or Product Development within a manufacturing organization.
- Proven experience in leading a Design/R&D; team at a senior level.
- Strong technical understanding of Pumps, Motors, Hydraulic Systems, Mechanical Design and Manufacturing Processes.
- Experience in end-to-end product development and commercialization.
- Strong exposure to product cost reduction, design standardization and reliability improvement.
- Excellent leadership, analytical, problem-solving and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Candidates from Pumps, Motors, Agri Equipment, Consumer Electricals, Automotive or Engineering Manufacturing industries will be preferred
