Our client looking for a commercially astute and experienced General Manager – Finance to lead the finance function and provide robust financial, commercial and strategic support to the business.
The role will be responsible for financial controllership, accounting, budgeting, MIS, working capital, taxation, compliance and business finance, while partnering closely with the leadership team to drive profitability, cash flow and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate should have experience in a large-scale FMCG, consumer goods or manufacturing environment, with strong exposure to high-volume operations and multi-location businesses.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting and long-range financial planning process.
- Drive monthly performance reviews and provide meaningful insights on revenue, margins, costs and profitability.
- Develop financial models and scenario analyses to support business decisions.
- Track business performance against budgets and identify key risks and opportunities.
Business Finance & Commercial Finance
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain and Operations teams to drive profitable growth.
- Evaluate pricing, margins, trade spends, discounts, schemes and customer profitability.
- Provide financial inputs for new business initiatives, investments, capacity expansion and strategic decisions.
- Develop strong understanding of business drivers and translate financial data into actionable recommendations.
Financial Controllership
- Oversee accounting and financial reporting across the organization.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly,
quarterly and annual financial closure.
- Strengthen financial controls, accounting processes and governance.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, company policies and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors.
Working Capital & Cash Flow
- Drive effective management of receivables, inventory, payables and overall working capital.
- Develop cash-flow forecasts and proactively manage liquidity.
- Work with business and operations teams to improve collections and inventory efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to optimize working capital without impacting business operations.
MIS & Management Reporting
- Establish robust MIS and reporting systems for management decision-making.
- Develop dashboards covering revenue, gross margin, EBITDA, working capital, expenses and business KPIs.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to the CFO and senior leadership team.
- Improve financial visibility through automation and analytics.
Taxation & Compliance
- Oversee direct and indirect tax compliance in coordination with internal teams and external advisors.
- Ensure timely statutory filings and compliance.
- Monitor changes in regulatory and tax requirements and assess their business impact.
- Manage tax audits, assessments and related matters.
Cost Management
- Partner with Supply Chain and Operations to identify cost optimization opportunities.
- Drive cost-control initiatives across procurement, manufacturing, logistics and overheads.
- Analyze product, channel, customer and location-level profitability.
- Establish effective cost-monitoring mechanisms and accountability.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Drive automation and standardization of finance processes.
- Strengthen ERP, reporting and financial analytics capabilities.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, controls and turnaround times.
- Lead finance transformation initiatives as required.
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop the finance and accounting team.
- Build a high-performance culture with strong focus on accuracy, accountability and business orientation.
- Develop talent and strengthen the finance organization's capabilities.
- Work closely with cross-functional leadership teams to embed financial discipline across the organization.
Candidate Profile
- 12–18 years of relevant experience in Finance, Accounting, Controllership and Business Finance.
- CA qualification is preferred.
- Strong experience in FMCG, consumer goods, manufacturing or other high-volume businesses.
- Experience managing finance for large-scale and/or multi-location operations.
- Strong understanding of accounting, controllership, taxation, FP&A; and commercial finance.
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, MIS and working-capital management.
