The role requires overseeing database maintenance activities such as backups, recovery, patching, and version upgrades.

The individual is responsible for implementing and maintaining database standards, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance with organizational policies.



Collaboration with application teams, infrastructure teams, and stakeholders is essential to align database solutions with business needs and system requirements. The role also demands a proactive approach to identifying performance bottlenecks, resolving issues, and continuously improving the database ecosystem to meet evolving demands.

Responsibilities

Monitor, analyze, and ensure the performance, health, and availability of DB2 systems and associated applications.

Perform performance tuning, including agile SQL tuning and access path analysis.

Manage database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning, ensuring business continuity.

Handle DB2 and application problem determination and resolution in production environments.

Design and maintain logical and physical database structures.

Execute regular database maintenance activities such as REORG and RUNSTATS.
