Role Description The Freelance Designer role at ELJOUR Studio is a full-time, on-site position based in Surat, Gujarat. The designer will collaborate closely with the founding team, production engineers, and craft specialists to conceptualize and develop luxury wooden chair and seating collections for hotel, hospitality, and premium dining environments. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating design concepts, preparing detailed drawings and specifications, selecting materials and finishes aligned with brand standards, and ensuring designs are feasible for manufacturing while maintaining aesthetic integrity.

The role also involves working with 3D visualization tools,



refining prototypes based on feedback, and aligning designs with sustainability and durability requirements. The designer will contribute to design presentations for clients and partners, support catalog and marketing content with visual assets, and participate in ongoing quality and innovation reviews.

Qualifications

Robust furniture or product design skills, with experience designing chairs or seating for luxury, hospitality, or high-end residential environments.

Proficiency in design and visualization software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhino, SketchUp, Fusion 360, and/or relevant 3D rendering tools).

Understanding of materials and manufacturing, especially solid wood, joinery techniques, ergonomics, and durability standards for commercial use.

Ability to translate design concepts into precise technical drawings, production-ready specifications, and clear documentation for fabrication teams.

Attention to detail in aesthetics, proportion, and finishing, with a refined sense of contemporary and luxury design language.

Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with engineers, artisans, and client-facing teams in an on-site studio environment.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet production timelines, and adapt designs to feedback and technical constraints.

Familiarity with sustainable design principles and eco-conscious material selection is highly beneficial.

Prior experience in furniture manufacturing, industrial design studios, or hospitality-focused design projects is preferred.
