: Information Technology Financial Operations (FinOps) Management
Location: Chennai
Role Overview The Information Technology Financial Operations (FinOps) Manager is responsible for establishing and leading the organization’s technology cost management and financial governance practice. The role focuses on improving visibility, accountability, forecasting, optimization, and value realization across cloud services, SaaS platforms, licensing, infrastructure, and other IT spend categories. The FinOps Manager works closely with IT, finance, procurement, engineering, application owners, and business stakeholders to ensure technology investments are planned, monitored, optimized, and aligned with business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage the IT FinOps operating model, governance framework, policies, processes, and reporting cadence.
- Assess decision methods for procurement through depreciation, buy vs lease models etc.
- Monitor, analyze, and report technology spend across cloud, SaaS, infrastructure, licensing, data platforms, and related IT services.
- Partner with finance teams to support budgeting, forecasting, accruals, chargeback, showback, and cost allocation activities.
- Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, application, and operations teams to identify cost optimization opportunities without compromising performance, security, resilience,
or business outcomes.
- Implement tagging, cost center mapping, resource ownership, and consumption tracking standards across technology platforms.
- Establish dashboards, reports, and executive summaries to provide actionable insights on spend trends, budget variance, utilization, waste, and savings opportunities.
- Drive cloud cost optimization initiatives such as rightsizing, reserved instances or savings plans, storage optimization, lifecycle management, license rationalization, and unused resource cleanup.
- Define and track KPIs, savings targets, cost avoidance metrics, unit economics, and value realization measures.
- Support vendor management and procurement teams in contract reviews, consumption commitments, renewal planning, and commercial negotiations.
- Promote a culture of financial accountability and cost awareness across IT and business teams through training, communication, and stakeholder engagement.
- Evaluate and implement FinOps tools, automation, alerts, anomaly detection, and reporting capabilities.
- Prepare management updates, steering committee materials, and audit-ready documentation related to IT financial governance.
- Review of Internal controls implemented other than Finance related, such as Hardware and Software Assets, License key management etc.
- Vendor management and risk assessment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s / master’s degree in finance.
- 12+ years of experience in IT Financial operations, cloud operations, technology finance, IT governance, procurement, or related functions.
- 3+ years of experience in cloud cost management, IT financial management, FinOps, vendor cost governance, or technology spend optimization.
- Hands-on understanding of cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, financial reporting, cost allocation, and management reporting.
- Strong understanding of IT service models, infrastructure, SaaS licensing, cloud consumption, and technology procurement processes.
Preferred Qualifications and Certifications
- FinOps Certified Practitioner or FinOps Certified Professional certification.
- Experience with cloud cost management tools, enterprise reporting tools, Power BI, Excel, ServiceNow, ERP systems, or procurement platforms.
- Knowledge of ITIL, IT governance, risk management, audit requirements, and technology control frameworks.
- MBA, finance certification, project management certification, or equivalent professional qualification is an advantage.

Reporting Structure The FinOps Manager typically reports to the Head of IT, Director of Technology Operations, Chief Information Officer, or Head of IT Finance, depending on the organization’s operating model. The role works closely with finance, procurement, cloud operations, infrastructure, application development, information security, enterprise architecture, and business unit leaders.
