Role Description The Ferrite-based Traction Motor Designer will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and validating ferrite magnet traction motors for commercial electric vehicles. Day-to-day tasks include electromagnetic and thermal design, performance simulation, preparing detailed CAD models and drawings, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate motors with controllers and powertrain systems. The role involves selecting appropriate materials, defining manufacturing tolerances, supporting prototype build and testing, and analyzing test data to refine designs.
The designer will also prepare technical documentation, contribute to design standards, and work closely with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure cost-effective and robust motor solutions. This is a full-time hybrid role based in Gorakhpur,
with a combination of in office work at TIGR Motors facilities and some work-from-home flexibility.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in electric machine design, especially traction motors, including electromagnetic design, thermal analysis, and mechanical robustness.
Experience with ferrite magnet motor topologies (e.g., brushless DC, PMSM variants using ferrite), material selection, and magnet layout optimization.
Proficiency in simulation tools for electric machines (such as FEM/FEA software for electromagnetic and thermal analysis) and familiarity with CAD tools for motor component design.
Understanding of power electronics, motor control strategies, and their interaction with traction motor performance in EV powertrain applications.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes for motors (stamping, winding, assembly, impregnation) and design-for-manufacturability and design-for-cost principles.
Ability to interpret and apply relevant industry standards, safety requirements, and reliability criteria for commercial EV traction systems.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with coursework or projects in electric machine design.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills, with the ability to work in cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
Experience in automotive or EV powertrain development is preferred; familiarity with Indian commercial vehicle operating conditions is an added advantage.
