Substation & Transmission Design Manager:

Responsible for overall design management, engineering oversight, planning, and technical governance of transmission lines, towers, substations, and allied electrical & civil works across ongoing and upcoming T&D; projects. Acts as the central technical authority for design review, vetting, standardization, optimization, and compliance. Coordinates with project teams, consultants, and vendors from HO/RO to ensure timely, cost-effective, constructible, and quality-compliant designs.

Key Responsibilities:

●Provide technical oversight and approve civil designs, foundation schemes, and drawings for all ongoing and upcoming projects

●Review and validate BOQs, method statements, and civil execution schedules submitted by project sites

●Monitor civil progress, quality, and cost performance across projects through MIS review and periodic site visits

● Standardize civil execution methodologies, checklists, and QA/QC protocols across the vertical

●Coordinate with design consultants, geotechnical agencies, and structural engineers on foundation type finalization





● Support tendering/bidding teams with civil cost estimates, technical inputs, and risk assessments for current project pursuits

●Evaluate and empanel civil subcontractors/vendors, and support commercial negotiations for major civil packages

●Review non-conformances and escalated site issues, guiding project teams on corrective engineering solutions

●Consolidate civil progress reporting for management reviews and client/stakeholder presentations

●Build technical capability of site-level civil teams through periodic training and guidance from HO.

Required Skills & Competencies

●Strong command over structural/foundation design principles for transmission towers and substation civil works

●Knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Project/Primavera, and civil estimation tools

●Sound knowledge of concrete technology, soil mechanics, and geotechnical considerations

●Strong vendor/subcontractor evaluation and negotiation skills

●Ability to remotely monitor and guide multi-location project teams through structured MIS and periodic visits.
