Role Description The Senior Conservation Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in the Pune Division. The position focuses on the preservation, documentation, and care of cricket-related artifacts and memorabilia, including textiles, equipment, documents, and photographs. Day-to-day tasks include assessing the condition of collection items, implementing preventive conservation measures, coordinating cleaning and handling protocols, and maintaining environmental controls in storage and display areas.

The role also involves preparing items for exhibition, supporting conservation records and cataloging, overseeing basic restoration activities under guidance, and training junior staff or volunteers in safe handling and preservation practices.

The Senior Conservation

Assistant collaborates closely with curators,



exhibition teams, and operations staff to ensure that the museum’s collections remain reliable, accessible, and engaging for visitors.

Qualifications

Experience in museum conservation, collections care, or heritage preservation, preferably with historical artifacts, textiles, documents, or sports memorabilia.

Knowledge of preventive conservation practices, including environmental monitoring, safe storage methods, and appropriate handling techniques for fragile objects.

Strong organizational and documentation skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records, catalog items, and follow established conservation workflows.

Attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to perform careful cleaning and minor stabilization work under conservation guidelines.

Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and guide junior staff or volunteers.

Interest in cricket history and sports culture, with the ability to connect conservation work to visitor experience and educational initiatives.

Relevant academic background in conservation, museology, heritage management, history, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Ability to work on-site full time in the Pune Division, including occasional weekends or extended hours during special events or exhibitions.
