CYURÆ is building an AI-powered personal styling platform designed to understand each user’s style preferences, wardrobe, fit requirements and occasions. Our platform combines mobile technology, artificial intelligence, personalization and fashion intelligence to recommend complete looks and create a highly personalized styling experience.

We are building a privacy-focused, scalable consumer application that will support wardrobe management, conversational styling, product recommendations, visual content, AI-powered fashion assistance and future integrations with retailers and human stylists.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Backend Engineer who can take ownership of backend development from architecture and database design to API development, cloud deployment and production monitoring.

The ideal candidate should have experience building backend systems for mobile or consumer applications and should be comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment. You will collaborate with mobile developers, AI engineers, product managers, designers and DevOps professionals to build CYURÆ’s core technology platform.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services using Python and FastAPI .
- Build secure, versioned and well-documented REST APIs for mobile and internal applications.
- Design and optimize database schemas using PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy and Alembic .
- Develop user-management, wardrobe, styling, recommendation, media and notification modules.
- Build asynchronous workflows for AI requests, image processing, notifications and other background operations.
- Integrate AI models, recommendation engines, computer-vision services and third-party APIs.
- Implement secure authentication, authorization,



role management and data-access controls.
- Build reliable image-upload and media-processing workflows using cloud storage.
- Containerize and deploy backend services using Docker and AWS .
- Implement automated testing, logging, monitoring and production observability.
- Review code, improve engineering standards and contribute to technical architecture decisions.
- Troubleshoot performance, database, infrastructure and production issues.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to convert product requirements into reliable technical solutions.

Required Skills
- 4–8 years of professional backend-development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python .
- Experience with FastAPI, Django, Flask or another modern Python backend framework.
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, SQL and database design .
- Experience developing production-grade REST APIs.
- Understanding of authentication technologies such as OAuth, JWT and OpenID Connect.
- Experience with background jobs, message queues, retries and asynchronous processing.
- Working knowledge of AWS, Docker and cloud-based deployments .
- Experience writing unit, integration and API tests using Pytest or similar frameworks.
- Good understanding of application security, performance optimization and production debugging.
- Proficiency with Git, branches, pull requests and code reviews.
- Ability to take ownership and work independently in an early-stage startup.

Good to Have
- Experience building consumer mobile applications or multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
- Experience integrating AI, LLM, computer-vision or recommendation systems.




- Familiarity with services such as S3, SQS, Redis, ECS/Fargate and RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL.
- Experience with image-upload, media-processing or content-management workflows.
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or GitLab CI.
- Experience with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools, OpenTelemetry or CloudWatch.
- Previous experience in fashion technology, e-commerce, personalization or consumer applications.
- Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools while independently reviewing, testing and securing generated code.

What We’re Looking For We are looking for someone who is more than a basic API developer. You should understand how backend systems behave in production and be able to think about database performance, security, scalability, failure handling, testing and cloud deployment.

You should be comfortable working with changing requirements, solving complex technical problems and helping establish strong engineering practices from an early stage.
