Associate Director – Catalogue & Content Operations | AI & Automation
Build the next generation of Catalogue Operations at Amber
At Amber, we’re transforming how students around the world find and book their accommodation.
With 4,000+ properties across 10+ countries, our catalogue is at the heart of the customer experience. Accurate pricing, availability, content and inventory directly impact conversion, customer trust and revenue.
We’re looking for an Associate Director – Catalogue & Content Operations to own and scale this function globally.
This is not a traditional catalogue management role. You’ll build a high-scale, AI-first catalogue operation, combining people, processes, data and technology to create a best-in-class operating model.
If you've scaled catalogue, content, inventory or operations at an e-commerce, D2C, marketplace or consumer-tech company, this could be an exciting opportunity to build something at scale.
What You'll Own
Catalogue & Content
Own the quality and completeness of Amber's global property catalogue across:
Property and room information
Pricing and availability
Images, videos and virtual tours
Amenities, policies and descriptions
Content enrichment and quality standards
Your goal: make every property accurate, complete and conversion-ready.
AI & Automation
Build the future of catalogue operations through AI and automation.
You will identify and automate high-volume manual workflows using:
AI/LLMs for content generation and enrichment
Automated data validation and reconciliation
APIs and web scraping
Image/content classification
Duplicate and anomaly detection
Automated inventory and pricing monitoring
Intelligent workflows and exception management
You’ll partner with Product, Engineering and Data to take automation initiatives from idea to production.
Operations & Scale
Lead a 60+ member global Catalogue Operations team, including ~5 managers.
You will own
Productivity and capacity planning
SLAs and quality
Operational governance
Seasonal/peak planning
Process redesign
Cost and efficiency optimisation
Manager development and succession planning
Data & Performance
Build a data-driven operating model with clear visibility into:
Catalogue accuracy
Content quality
Inventory discrepancies
Pricing/availability accuracy
SLA adherence
Productivity
Error rates
Automation coverage
Manual effort reduction
Use data to identify root causes, eliminate recurring problems and continuously improve the function.
Cross-functional Leadership
You’ll represent Catalogue Operations at the leadership level and influence how Amber’s product, processes and technology evolve. What We're Looking For
We’d love to hear from people who have built and scaled similar functions in:
E-commerce | D2C | Marketplaces | Consumer Tech | Travel Tech | Food Tech | Quick Commerce You should bring:
7–14 years of experience in Catalogue, Content, Inventory, Marketplace or Data Operations.
Experience managing large, multi-layered teams.
Solid understanding of catalogue quality, inventory/data operations and operational excellence.
Proven track record of process transformation and automation.
Experience partnering with Product/Tech teams to build scalable solutions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience with APIs, data ingestion, web scraping or automation is a strong plus.
Exposure to AI/GenAI-led operational automation will be highly valued.
Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
A builder mindset — someone who enjoys taking a complex, high-volume operation and turning it into a scalable, measurable system.
Why This
Role?
This is an opportunity to build, not just manage.
You’ll have the chance to:
Lead a 60+ member global function
Build an AI-first Catalogue Operations model
Operate across 10+ countries and 4,000+ properties
Directly influence customer experience, conversion and revenue
Transform manual operations through technology and automation
Build and develop a strong leadership team
Create processes and systems that can scale with Amber’s global growth If you've scaled catalogue or marketplace operations in e-commerce/D2C and are excited about using AI to fundamentally rethink how operations work, we'd love to hear from you.
