Assistant Professor : Digital Imaging, Fashion Photography & Visual Communication
Position Summary The Assistant Professor shall be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, practical studio instruction, research, curriculum development, student mentoring, and academic administration in the areas of digital photography, fashion photography, videography, image editing, and computer-aided design using Adobe Creative Suite. The faculty member will contribute to creating industry-ready graduates through experiential learning, project-based education, and integration of emerging digital technologies.
Courses to be Taught
Under the module Digital Imaging, Fashion Photography & Visual Communication, the faculty shall teach:
- Introduction to Photography
- Conceptual Fashion Photography
- Fashion Photography
- Videography & Editing
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe Illustrator
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Fashion Design, Fashion Communication, Photography, Visual Communication, Multimedia, Digital Media, or a closely related discipline with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) from a recognized university.
- NET/SLET/SET qualification or Ph.D. as per current UGC regulations (where applicable).
- Industry experience in fashion photography, commercial photography, digital media, or visual communication is desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver lectures, practical studio sessions, demonstrations, and workshops.
- Develop lesson plans aligned with Programme Outcomes (POs) and Course Outcomes (COs).
- Conduct studio-based learning in photography and fashion imaging.
- Train students in DSLR/Mirrorless camera operations, lighting, composition, and visual storytelling.
- Teach image editing, retouching, digital illustration,
and graphic communication using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Guide students in fashion campaigns, editorials, portfolios, catalogues, and digital media production.
- Integrate AI-assisted creative tools and current industry software into classroom teaching where appropriate.
- Organize workshops, seminars, exhibitions, and guest lectures.
- Prepare question papers and practical assessments.
- Evaluate assignments, portfolios, studio work, and presentations.
- Conduct continuous internal assessment.
- Maintain academic records and student performance documentation
- Collaborate with industry professionals and creative agencies.
- Manage photography studio operations.
- Coordinate procurement and maintenance of photography and computer laboratory resources.
- Maintain software licenses and digital assets.
- Guide students in assignments, portfolios, exhibitions, and competitions.
- Mentor final-year projects and industry internships.
- Support students in developing skilled portfolios suitable for higher education and employment.
- Publish research papers in peer-reviewed journals.
- Present papers at national and international conferences.
- Undertake funded research and consultancy projects.
- Organize photography exhibitions, fashion shoots, and digital media showcases.
